dracthyr are emblematic of modern wow. their entire storyline is just them standing around talking about their feelings and emotions. you could really boil it down to “boohoo my daddy didnt love me now im going to go cry and search for validation.” it’s incredibly tonally dissonant with previous wow stories and expansions. even all of the dracthyr npcs in orgrimmar and stormwind talk about stupid nonsense like cookies and kittens

Metzen was still writing for Blizzard when we had to assemble/rescue a bunch of giant Thralls so he could get married. I don’t think he minds characters being emotional.

But would Blizzard actually put in some effort to give them full armor or give up immediately after making the race like they have with Dracthyr’s?

I like the Dracthyr race and think the look and feel of them and the Evoker is pretty cool.

But I like the Dracthyr. They look kind of like my friend’s bearded dragon. I can’t say Evoker is the class for me, but they’re not abominations or anything.
