I think the biggest part you’re misunderstanding with most of the chain, which I could be wrong about.
Isn’t that the Dragon Class (Evoker) can’t tank, but that the Dragon Race can’t tank. Or that the Dragon Race only has 1 class option currently available.
But the race not being able to tank, is the same effect if say Blood Elves, or Humans couldn’t tank, or they couldn’t heal, or something. There are different levels of comparison.
Both are valid view points. Personally I always thought it was weird that DHs couldn’t fly on their own. But I’m glad that we are getting a race that can, all the same.
I’m gonna try this slowly without big words I want to be able to tank as a Dragonguy, the easiest way I see would in fact be adding a 3rd spec maybe it isn’t and i’m fine if the class doesn’t tank if the RACE can.
Example Demon Hunters can’t heal people : I want to heal as a demon hunter. This is Class for everyone.
Example I want to heal as a Bloodelf : I can heal as a blood elf without playing a Demon Hunter.
Right now we have a RACE that cannot tank at all. I don’t care about the CLASS i want to use the RACE!
Like death knights? Literally a class and a race. Now let’s say IF they go outside the spec of Evoker it would have to be a range spec. The last 3 new classes release have been melee, it’s enough melee has had their time now it’s time for range to get some love. So if they do expand it I would say Mage/hunter would make sense. Would you complain about an expanded race still simply then just because if doesn’t include your preferred class?
LMAO! Death Knights are NOT a RACE, are you freaking serious? LMAO!!
I wouldn’t be complaining, I already am going to main Evoker, as I’ve said many times. But it would be nice for dif classes for my alts Dracthyr I’ll make.
I hear you and I offered suggestions. Hunter and mage would fit the fantasy of a dragon character. If they expanded beyond Evoker. Would you not agree that the last 3 new classes have been melee oriented? I believe most of us are looking forward to more range, so those would be great options in my opinion.
Lore-wise, they’re certainly undead. However, given the origins of the Forsaken and lack of DKs in their civilization (until WotLK), I think it’s safe to say the class and race are separate entities. Gameplay-wise, they’re just your choice of race as a DK, considering the racials are that of whatever race you choose. Either way, you can fairly say DKs are not a race.
Most people that want to play ranged are going to play ranged classes regardless of the races available.
Same thing with tanks and melee. The only thing opening up melee to Dracthyr does is allow people that are interested in melee AND want to play a dragon to do so.
The populations aren’t really going to change much.
Anyway, in Ion’s example he specifically referenced warriors when talking about them being able to play other classes.
If they get new classes, it’s a very safe bet they’ll get at least warrior, mage, and hunter.
and hopefully death knights. It would be silly to not give them that considering all races has access to them and it’s the death knight hero class feature.
evokers don’t have a melee spec for one, and you can’t really call a race a race with no other option then one class.
At that point it’s just a class without the racials.
Heck, it would make more sense to just make an evoker class be available to all races, disable their racials for that specific class and stat it is like a druid where you have to be in that form to fight, and call it a day.
He said that they were going to start as Evokers but once they’d integrated that it was definitely possible that they could be other classes, so presumably they’d be learning from other races.
Which fits their description as “very curious about the world” and what-not.
In his example he specifically used warrior but I can see warrior, rogue, mage, and hunter.
Maybe priest and monk. I’m not sure on other classes.
I just want to switch as many of my characters to Dracthyr as possible. At least my warriors and mage!
