Drac'thyr Mock-up in Evoker Tier

I have a feeling the tier won’t actually go on the dragon model which is unfortunate

That would be a shame.
But I certainly have the same feeling.

They need to show their full tier sets in dragon form at least. Those are being made just for them and no other race, so they should work with dragon form.

Their stated intent is belt and shoulders only, which prompted the poster to do a mock up in the first place. Which is precisely what prompted me to cross-post it here. This is a desire that needs to be addressed in these early stages before plans are concrete. Otherwise, this is going to be one of those things have has us complaining and wishing for another decade. :frowning:

as long as they keep the original options available I would be for it. They are one of the few races I would say look good without pants. Having nothing on their arms and legs makes them seem more dragonlike to me.

Having so limited armor options is disappointing though.

On that note, they should just let people hide pants in general. Especially considering that some options show more skin than the underwear would otherwise. If people want to run around in their skivvies? That’s their decision.

I should have said I want the look they have showed off as well. That is really what I was trying to say. I guess that is fine as well though. long day at work.

Given that the Evoker class is exclusive to the Drac’thyr, I think they can design the armour with this in mind. As we can see on the tier concepts, there are greyed out areas. Presumably, this is showing off the skin of the wearer rather than being a part of the set itself. And the 'shop job looks great, operating on this assumption. You still see the dragon. It isn’t lost under the armour. The form is accented by the set rather than being defined by it.

it is a nice mock up. having armor like that would be great. I like the minimalist design blizzard showed off as well. The armor options look like they will be limited. I agree that isn’t the best. I would like them all as options

Aye. I don’t mind wanting to show off the design as well, but when the class set is essentially a race set, they have total control over what aesthetic is being established with that set, without having to lend too much thought to how it’ll look on other races.

Again, I’d just like to emphasize how good this looks, especially with the relatively recent push to add 3D modeling to most armour slots. I think it would look absolutely fantastic if the lower layers that are “painted on” only show up in visage form, and are simply replaced by dragonscales once you transform and/or enter combat. It preserves the overall organic feel of the armour as well as the draconic silhouette of the race, emphasizing both.

Especially this initial primal tier, that just looks like a natural extension of their draconic power manifesting… it’s such a good design, and I don’t want to see it go to waste, hidden away

Other mmos wouldnt dare implement a race like this due to the sheer development cost of it and the time it would take to make all previous armors fit on it.

Its a reason why ff14 changed au ra at from how they were originally designed, and hrothgar barely challenges the norm and made no attempt to make helms work on it like in wow with its beast races.

Now wow makes something that really challenges the norm and ppl criticize for not having as much options without even attempting to understand why.

I just cant understand this glorified druid forms because they don’t even have a % of the same customization.

Just from what was said and shown, they are going all out on these customization BECAUSE it is a new race, and due to the uniqueness of the model they are making new armors just for it.

How does any of this say lazy? None of it does, they are making a bold choice.

A choice can be a bold one and still the incorrect one. Like I’ve said many a time, I’d be fine with most armour not working on them retroactively (although they do see to work well enough with races like Draenei and Worgen). But Evoker gear should be visible on Evokers, at a minimum.

For reference, he also did a mock-up of what they’ll look with with only the confirmed slots:

Not horrible, but certainly pales in comparison to the full set.

I wish the model we were shown actually looked like the ones in these pictures. I did not like what I saw at the reveal. For lack of a better term, it looked kind of derpy to me.

That is the model from the press kit:

He just finagled the armour onto it.

I’m talking about the in-game model. It did not appeal to me.

But… that’s the same model…?

Is it though? Because the one I saw was ugly.
