Nah, they’re an allegory for not being trans and for the same reason you say they are:
I made it up in my head.

Not happy with what you fished up?
Change your bait…
The elf looks like he wearing make up. Perhaps I could have worded it better but the elf looks like hes in drag to me.
As an interdimensial being from the planet FGSFDS(can’t pronounce in human tongue LOL so quirky), I applaud blizzard for finally designing something that represents me.
Dragons always had the ability to change into a visage. That isn’t anything new and you’re visage form is still your drakthyrs sex linked to body type one or two.
But if it makes ya feel happy to see it in that way good for you. I don’t see it as such but I’m just gay not trans so idk I don’t see an emotional investment in a character as being exactly like me as anything other then "that’s neat"well anyway back to adventure!
It is indeed a way to appease the vocal minority, yes
I like to play Orcs because they’re bulky, honourable, and spiritual. They’re coded for that specific kind of demographic. That doesn’t mean that my wife can’t enjoy them, even if she can’t personally relate to any of that. They’re still just as much for her as they are for me.
Just like Dwarves are coded as heavy-drinking Scotsmen. I’m a teetotaler, but I still love them and play as them. They’re still for me, regardless of my sobriety level.
Just as Dracthyr being rainbow-flinging magic users that are able to take on a visage which manifests precisely the way in which they desire to present themselves to others is pretty clearly queer-coded. That doesn’t mean that I’m not allowed to enjoy them as a married straight man that has never felt out of place in my gender.
Right… Doctor Evil face
While in hibernation for 20,000 years and then only having dust as rations coming out of it ?
That’s kind of a plot point in the whole thing.
“Just because they’re made for us” LOL. Classic case of needing validation.
Not even that. The writer said such things don’t exist in Azeroth and that there is just people being people. There’s no labels. That means there’s no stigma attached to them. That in turn would mean that Azeroth is more evolved than planet Earth, in that its races have figured out how to move on from using divisive notions intended to disparage or insult people.
That’s why I tend to be of the mind that instead of trying to pull real world into things, I just cheer at the fact that all of us are finally getting a draconic oriented story. If someone else takes something else from it, I am uber happy for them and hope we group so we can beat bosses and get loot together someday.
But at the same time, I must confess that I DO take issue when someone looks at me, singles me out and saying. "No. This isn’t for you. It’s for me. They were coded for this demographic."
Sorry, but I refuse to buy into that division. So I must push back and say:
"No. It’s for all of us."
The Orc, the Drac’thyr, the Dwarf. None were coded for anyone. It’s called art and artistic license that drew inspiration from specific themes in humankind’s history.
That does NOT mean all Irish/Scot descended people should only play as dwarves, or that all Native American descended players will always or only be Tauren because they were ‘coded for those demographics’. If anything such a statement comes off as wildly inappropriate and borderline racist in nature. It might not be intentional, but it doesn’t change that fact.
If you can’t see why such a thing is wrong, then no words will ever convince you otherwise. That is why I am pointing out and will continue to point out that WoW is for everyone regardless of who they are, or what they believe in. This place is like the Oasis from Ready Player One. A place all people can shed the crap that is the real world, and have fun together.
Be who you want to be. Be happy. Be respectful of everyone else.
Also remember that every voice matters. Especially those you may disagree with.
“Greenskins”.
No, Azeroth just has a different kind of it.
Indeed it is… but it still goes on.
Why are you being so obtuse? The equivalency you created doesn’t work. If someone IS a man or a woman and you call them something else just out of spite you are not being correct. Emphasis on the word IS.
On the other hand, if someone has a make believe fantasy in which they call themselves a man or a woman (which is entirely fine, you can roleplay all you want nothing wrong with that) and someone else doesn’t partake in the same make believe they are not being incorrect like in the previous paragraph. They are simply choosing not to play into the made up fantasy.
Nobody is forced to roleplay. In the first scenario it’s not roleplay it’s just reality. So again, your equivalency is wrong.
Is not canon any longer. It was a good change.
Hyper-focus on identity because current year.
And a checkmark for Wednesday.
But Fox news tells me otherwise!! In case people don’t know since I’ve been gone for a while, I’m being sarcastic lmao
