You already know the solution and you’re part of the problem. The game needs more tank/heal, you’re not playing tank/heal.
You understand where the problem is and make the conscious decision to step both feet in it. Play DPS and stop complaining about the problem you’re creating for yourself, or stop playing DPS. That’s literally all there is. Hoping for Blizzard to come up with some solution to make OTHER PEOPLE go tank/heal so you can have faster queue is peak entitlement.
the game should never let you get into the role as dps spec in the first place by auto switching you to tank and keeping you as tank spec. literally could be designed that way but it isn’t because devs are lazy or not prioritizing the user end experience.
it’s called idiot proofing a product. please use your head.
Can I ask how your DPS queue went that high for TWing yesterday? That’s mainly what I did yesterday on my DPS main, and I never had more than 6 minutes. Im doing them now as I type this and Im averaging 5-7 minutes/queue as dps.
I just played with 5 dps in love dungeon. players just join as a tank but Dps mode and a healer as well. their dungeon system completely broke and seem no rules exist anymore…
this is so bad…
LFG has a series of rules.
First is: Is the character Tank/Healer/DPS
Next it checks armor class, it tries to have a split between various armor types.
Then it checks range or melee
Finally it checks class, it tries to not have multiple of the same class.
The longer in queue you wait the more it loosens these rules in an attempt to get you into a group.
I’m sure there are additional rules but those are the ones I’m aware of.
Most tanks just don’t find tanking fun because there’s an innate pressure applied to them to not only do everything correctly, but do it very fast, as well. I’m not saying this is all groups, but it is absolutely the majority of them.
Is it a community-driven problem? Yes.
Can the devs do something about it? Yes, but it’s going to take core design principles being uprooted.
Damn, people losing their jobs even in video games.
Personally I think Tank is an outdated role. Delves prove this surely. With adequate healing and boss mechanics that are telegraphed or can be strategized against, you really dont need someone to play punching bag.
I feel like the more graceful idea is just letting DPS specs tank in dungeons with a buff applied to them to make them makeshift tanks (when a proper tank spec is not available). More health, defenses, threat etc.
Then DPS players can also experience the pressure of tanking. Maybe long-term it results in actual tank specs being treated better, or maybe everyone just starts hating each other all the more.
You are incorrect as this problem has been going on for multiple expansions for pugs.
Being actually part of the community I do not have this issue, ever, since I made long lasting friendships in this game via my guilds over 20+ years
WoW used to allow us to switch specs in bgs, arenas, raids and dungeons…you know back when the game had over 10x as many subs so clearly they were doing something right then and aren’t anymore. And in Classic we all fall into dungeons naturally. 0 tank problem over there. That is mainly just a retail thing cuz you all are so mean to each other.
