Is leveling as double Hunter with a friend viable?
He’s starting here rolling a Hunter for Wotlk classic, and I want to play something that will be a strong comp with him and maybe make leveling faster and easier. We really want to hit 70 before wotlk and we don’t want to boost or use boost services.
Or am I better playing something that can heal like an Enhancement Shaman? Or maybe a tank like a Prot Warrior?
Thanks in advance.
Double Hunter is pretty fun and definitely viable. Having a healer or a tank will make finding dungeons better tho.

Cool thanks. Thing is we both want to play a Hunter in wotlk lol. They’re SICK in wrath, but I was considering a tank or healer too if they are more needed. Do you think there will be a lot of Hunters?

I believe there will be less Hunters than now in TBC since Hunters in TBC are top tier dps. In Wrath they are still very good (and more fun to play) but there’s classes/specs that are as good, if not better in Wrath so class popularity will change.

Hunter popularity in Wrath isn’t generally as high as in TBC. A general warning though, Hunters aren’t very well represented in Wrath Arena (They demolish people in BGs though), so by this “Comp” you speak of, I hope you don’t mean arena comp with double hunter.

I meant “leveling comp”. I do want to play arena but not as double Hunter. Maybe enhancement shaman + hunter if I go that route, though. Or prot warrior + hunter. The three classes I like are Hunters, shamans, and warriors lol. My friend is DEAD set on his hunter.
I see no problem with stacking classes for leveling in a group, but keep in mind that you’ll be sharing all of the random gear from quest mobs and dungeons. Unless you’re okay with only wearing quest gear, it would be more efficient to cover more bases for gear.
Hunters are amazing for leveling and have plenty of utility for survival, but having no healing will definitely pose a challenge for you from time to time. You can work around it by pet tanking or just resetting fights with Feign Death, but having a healing class will be a consistent and reliable way of surviving.

Hunt gonna low key own in WotLK
Everyone gonna play their pinks and reds and not expect green on the dps meter to own

Thanks for the reply and info. The healing bit makes me lean towards Enhancement Shaman. I really like them in wrath and I know they can compliment Hunters, but then we will face that same problem about sharing agility mail gear.
I was thinking Prot Warrior might be good because I can stun and tank mobs while he burns them down. But again… no healing. We wouldn’t share gear at least.
They are far more repesented in arena than in tbc at least. And have tons of CC

For sure. To be fair, I play on Warmane where almost everyone does 2s, and they definitely struggle in 2s.
I know there are 3s comps where they actually work
At the end of the day though, if you want to play a Hunter with your friend, it can work just fine! It will only pose problems in certain situations. I could never fault someone for wanting to play such a fun class. Enhancement Shaman is super fun too!

I’m surprised they are not good in 2s. They have insane burst and counter Mages pretty hard. They can kite melee well and they’re one of the few classes that don’t get bent over by DKs. Is it the LoS that’s the problem?
I am looking forward to it with all my might.
Is it good for PvP? Better than Hunters?
They don’t kite melee as well as you may think. By Wrath melee have tools to stay on top of them, and if they don’t they’re generally paired with someone who does (ie; Holy Pally / Arms)
In my experience they don’t do any damage if you sit on them. I’ve pushed Holy Pally / Arms and Feral / Disc the most, rarely come across them and when I do they’re pretty easy to shut down
If you check out the Wormane (Mispelling that in case that name is a no-no here) it’s mainly 2s (PServers are usually like this) and no Hunters in the bracket at all

Ouch. That sucks. I figured with masters call and disengage it would be a little better.
Is Enhancement any good for 2s? Viable in S5?
I don’t have extensive experience in pushing Enhance 2s, but from the perspective of someone who did try: Their weakness is their kiteability, the only root break you have is your wolve’s sprint ability.
Their strength is Purge(Obviously), very high and long burst where they’re also tanky as hell during the duration, and a short CD long ranged interrupt.
Issue is, it isn’t hard to keep that Enhance locked down depending on what you’re facing.
Someone could just aoe nuke your wolves and you’re out of luck, a lot of classes are capable of that.
You also don’t fare overly well against the meta (Holy/Arms). Between MS putting your heals from “Good” to “Not enough”, and the warrior being able to retaliate you and your wolves, giving them an invuln window against you and your wolves (Where you could potentially kill yourself in seconds, obviously don’t do that), and are forced to gun down the healer with the Warrior spamming charges/slows/stuns on you, it’s a pretty rough comp to fight. And since it’s the meta comp, it can keep you walled on bad days if you keep facing it.

Primarily yes. You can only kite so well in a circle, and people can just continually LoS you
