Dotty, the charity pet...sort of

It is not subjective it is clear as day. I don’t get this argument, all other pets that once were charitable donations on Blizzard’s behalf get changed to a normal pet after the allotted time period ends. You not wanting to understand the legalese, looking for loopholes and the like is subjective.

Honest to Bob, it’s not fine print at all, it’s right underneath the purchase button clear as day. I am so tired of this excuse being used. It’s up to you to be an informed consumer, it’s not on Blizzard to contact every individual and ask for another time if they are sure. The op clearly understood what they read and wanted nothing more to create another outrage thread, nothing more, feel free to read back they regurgitated everything stated clear as day.

So, what every company does.

Only if sales go over $3 million, which no charity pet they have sold ever has.

Yea…if i give to charity without buying the pet i can use it as a tax write off too.

It’s not a ‘charity product’. It’s just a product. Blizzard is donating the first month’s proceeds from the sales of that product, up to $3M, to charity.

I’m stealing this.

They release their financials quarterly, as required by law. I think you’re thinking of the WoW subscription numbers.

Edit - Just realized I’m posting on an alt. In the spirit of transparency, the alt shares the name of my ‘forum main’. I only switched toons because I ran out of flags on the main. So many trolls these days…

Guy I clarified that post, I can go edit if it bothers you so much. Thing is the year isn’t over, people can’t be bothered to actually look into what Blizzard donates as a whole, not just from WoW. They see 3 million and figure that is everything. They see the cap and are triggered, I worded it wrong and will delete it as whole, since so many just don’t get the spirit of donating and rather focus on the tax write offs instead.

No. It. Isn’t.

Oh and FYI, the ‘last time’ they did this? There was a cut-off date and any profits made after said date went to… guess where? Straight to Blizzard.

Whomper did not have a cap on donations.

Their confusion about the wording was dishonest. They fully understood what Blizzard meant. Again, this is a thread created to stir the pot and you keep coming back to stir it some more.

This thread is a dishonest and hateful attack on a charity drive by someone who just had to find another way to find fault with what Blizzard is doing.

Blizzard is listed under ‘Gold Supporters’, indicating contributions of at least $1 million, but less than $3 million (the minimum for Platinum status). This puts them on par with Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Verizon, and AT&T.

End of the day, this is a nothing-burger.

$3 million, split evenly (so it’s $1.5 million to each charity if the donation cap is reached) is plenty of money. It’s a lot that goes to a good cause. Hating Blizzard because they dare to say “Yeah, 3 million total is enough we think.” is honestly shameful.

Especially when you consider that most of you complaining about this would never give that same amount if you had it. You’d give the bare minimum and consider your ‘good deed’ done for the day.

Exactly - - Welcome to America where if it sounds to good to be true… it is.

“thats how its always been” is a terrible platform in my opinion. is there a reason you feel that they dont need to include what I have suggested?
I dont think its unreasonable to ask for that at all and cant imagine why anyone else would either.

Basically companies profit off charities and it’s pretty scummy thing to do but hey that’s blizzard for ya.

Because the demand for it is so small? You represent a small fraction of a tiny percentage of the playerbase. I don’t see where they need to waste time catering to you, given that catering to you accomplishes nothing beyond smoothing your ruffled feathers.

I absolutely don’t think it’s an unreasonable request. I just also don’t think it would be unreasonable to refuse or ignore.

For all we know there is an indicator. It’s just not going to be hit because they’ve never reached $3 million before, even when many more people were playing the game.

They have never profited. It is not scummy. You should call WE and Make-A-Wish and see if they share your sentiment. Companies make these kind of donations on the daily, do you call them scummy too? Without these huge corporate donations many of these charities would not exist.

There’s nothing scummy about it. They’ve never gone past $2.5 million from a charity pet before, and that was right after Legion launched. This is a small bit of legal text for an event that won’t happen. Yet every Chicken Little out there is yelling that the sky is definitely falling for real this time.

thats a pure assumption. given that this thread has 5k posts, I would say that it MIGHT be more of an issue than you might think and if there is anything Blizzard could afford to spend just a smidge more resources on these days, it’s improving public image.
You feel like it’s a waste of time because it doesn’t affect you and that tells me all I need to know.

Says Post #1003.
