If the High Elves are supposed to be “colonizers”, then they did a terrible job at it, considering how the Amani still control the entire Eastern half of the region including their sacred capital city after 2,600 years. 
He doesn’t know that though

Guess I gotta throw this out again
Leave it to some HMP that showed up just a couple days ago to immediately start throwing around increasingly worse takes. This is not a requirement of colonization, and you should probably just get back to leveling.

The High Elves were not colonizers, they did not seek to colonize new land. They were political refugees trying to re-establish a home so they didn’t die out.
The Amani trolls were squatting in ruins of their civilization that was destroyed millenia ago. Trolls had been nearly pushed out of their territory before that by the early human kingdoms. Why is the onus only put on Quel’thalas to relinquish land?
Give the Amani back Hinterlands. The Dwarves have no right to be there either.

The only objectively bad take is “The Amani are the good guys”.
Little different than every novel or work of fiction we’ve had to read from 5th grade until we, presumably, graduated high school tbh. We’re meant to be able to learn something, provide insight on an author’s intentions or beliefs, explore the human condition, and/or showcase aspects of systems, society, and life regardless of if it was intentional or not.

Fixed that for you.
Unfortunately, Arcane magic has lost its teeth over the years:
- it changed to make space for fel magic.
- it changed because of its reimagining as the magic of logic and order.
- it changed due to the decision the druids were also using arcane magic anyways.
So, that period of elvish history makes a lot less sense than it used to. It was written for a fundamentally different cosmology than we have.
The entire Long Vigil sort of looks silly, now.

The Amani are the best and everyone knows.
Erevien is a fan of the Trolls which are a blatant caricature torn right out of a 19th century propaganda piece. Personally I’m shocked.

Elves are literally mutants.
As much as humans are “mutants” compared to primates.
As stated many times and reiterated by Khadgar in the recent Dragonflight Codex, Elves are Evolved Trolls. Evolved and Uplifted by the grace of the Well of Eternity/World-Soul itself.
