It’s a bit different when its 7 years of work that included a lot of crunch time
Also the whole trans thing was just people being transphobic over a cis woman that happened to be buff SOMEHOW. Seriously there’s no freaking way in a post apoc society she’d have the diet and supplements to maintain a body like that.
I mean props for showing a rarely seen version of the female body but they were stupid with it
I’m not familiar with the game, but if they jog everywhere with impossible amounts of inventory on their backs like we do here in Warcraft… that could be part of it. Also I don’t think any of my characters have eaten food in months. I just play in openworld content.
Pretty sure how people and creatures look in games is a freeforall, so can’t see getting too attached to the realism of their appearances. Having favorite lore characters killed or overhauled is pretty tough though. Seems to me introducing a new character with desired traits would be safer than inverting existing characters. That said, it just occurred to me that people who come out in real life take flak from some people in their own lives resenting that change. That one’s a bit sad.
Anyway, this is a scenario with game designers making some radical change a bunch of people hate or love depending on their perspective. So appropriate response is unsub or sub. And kudos to you, OP, hating the changes but denouncing the death threaters.
True. Remember that palaton exercise machine scandal where the fit guy got his fit girlfriend/wife a fancy exercise machine, and a bunch of crazed people started speculating that he was mentally abusing and bodyshaming his wife/girlfriend and by extension the company bodyshaming all women everywhere? And the company stock dropped like 10% (and smart people rushed in to buy while it was discounted)?
Pretty sure that guy and lady actor had to go on youtube and post video responses to assure people 1> There was no conceived backstory and 2> If there was, there are benign possibilities like maybe she mentioned wanting that machine when she saw it on a commercial and was amazed he remembered months later.
Then the stock went up 20%.
And seems to me the commercials are just different kinds of people happily using the machine nowadays.
Here in the future it’s probably only going to get harder to distinguish whether bad-faith media is posted by individual opportunists, radical left, rightwing extreme, Russia, fat guys in their basements, competitors, politicians, cows, teenagers…
Meanwhile Skynet is probably wondering if it even needs to bother building a robot army.
Well if you turn them over to the police or FBI wouldn’t releasing them technically jeopardize an ongoing investigation and be breaking the law at that point?
And to the major point of response, why would any kind of death threat or the situation of receiving death threats amuse you?
It’s also one of the only places to see raw news before it is processed by for profit or government influenced media. It’s on the users to decide what is worth them looking at. “shutting down” twitter is a useless notion.
It’s crazy people who don’t distinguish between video gameland and reality. Or it could be not-crazy people pretending to be crazy just to stir up controversy for unknown reasons… but threatening someone’s life is one of those things that warrants the fbi going to their house to find out which they are.
It’s the gaming community having a pro gamer moment, like usual. This isn’t politics. This is us. This is the same community that becomes so toxic and degrading that people kill themselves.
