Don't Change pvp gearing!

Season 2. In season 3 it was 710/740.

this gearing system does the same thing.

everybody is just upset because it’s more punishing to the bad players.

You mean to tell me after doing only 1 part of the in-game content consistently and for so long, that you suddenly wont have the gear and stats to do a completely different section of content? No way dude.

Don’t ruin it for everyone. Shadowlands is a step in the right direction from BFA and a step towards WoD. Ths is one step closer. Please make the change blizzard!

as in the gearing system we have now in SL? It literally does not. when a 40k hp player can hit a lower geared player for consistent 15-20k hits, and they cant outheal it or barely do half of that damage, while the 40k hp player gets max hit for 12ks and can heal themselves to full from half hp (20k heals) while the lower geared player, even while playing great, max heal for themselves is maybe 10-15k, that’s a problem. that’s not skill, that’s literally gear being the problem.

all the current system does is cause boosts for 220 gear.

If you have an alt why did you tank??? My alt is nearly 2200 in half the games as your main, and my main is 2400+ in half the games as your main. Your name change, loss in cr and games played all very clearly show you likely paid for at least 2k-2100. I highly doubt you will hit 2100 again. I normally wouldn’t care but you’re posting as if you’re an expert in all things rbgs lately, and you’re far from it. You also highly benefit from the gearing system considering you bought a carry 🤷

I too have an rbg community consisting largely of 1500 exp players. I hit 2k on my alt leading them in rbgs and had to stop queueing with them and level a new alt. Your community does not explain your cr loss, especially when you have an alt. It’s a very convenient excuse though.

nah its a good step in a direction because it will help alts out in pvp. and im sure if it doesnt work out they will remove it quickly.

I seen your posts. Your a loser man. All I see u doing is telling people what Cr u have and that anyone above 2k got carried. I sus u got carried. Keep up the good work soon we will all k ow what Cr level u are and we shall bow down to our new lord and savior.

are u confused of which scaling there talking about because it seems ur thinking about bfa scaling which was bad.

You’re literally the only person on here I’ve accused of buying a carry. Other people have said the same thing about you. And no, I sell carries, definitely didn’t get carried. I’ve been 2400+ for 8 years now. Try again. You queue 800 mmr below my main, you MIGHT queue into a 180 ilevel alt of mine or something.

Bfa was bad. I’m all for closing ilvl gap. I wanna run my sham for season 2 but I dont have the time for the grind right now.
I’m only asking about wod because right after we had wod we had legion and bfa. And the scaling was bad in both xpacs after wod. So I’m wondering why Blizz took such a supposedly great pvp system and brought in scaling. I think the highest pvp item in bfa was 245. It felt like they just abandoned pvp. Wod could be a stepping stone back to that. Why go backwards we can’t close the ilvl gap without a whole new system in season 2?

There is no way to close the power gap in pvp without having gear scale differently in pvp than pve.

Round hole. Square peg.

And you were telling people with lower CR than you that they didn’t have any “skill.” Here is my take on you two:

That’s to bad I really felt like Blizz had pvp nailed down and on a good path in sl. I don’t see how the power struggle can be that out of whack since pve is getting vendors too.

It’s actually not bad for people with a support network. For players without such a network this expansion is pure venom.

I’m pretty sure I win this fight, whether virtually or in person based on his inability to form a complete sentence.

yeah i dont know ur story between him and u but for the thread just being a troll i think.

I’m still unclear if the people arguing for this system are people who do rated content or just random BG or Skirmish players who hate being killed easily.

My experience this expansion has been fantastic. I talked about this in another post but:

  • I wanted the gladiator cloth set, so set out to try and get it.
  • I had been trying to learn Disc since BFA so… win win. I got lucky but would have gone mage if disc was awful.
  • I grinned out the gear to get 197 in random bgs and weeklies. Kind of sucked but I gritted my teeth and got through it.
  • Started joining fixed group RBGs. Was intially fun (as I only gained CR) but I hit my first wall around 1250. Horrible. I despaired of getting to 1400. Had a terrible week when I got to 1395 then crashed down.
  • Got over 1400. Cheered. Was convinced I was on my way to 1600.
  • Was so wrong.
  • Hit a MAJOR wall. Spent one week with 7 wins and 14 losses. Looked at the option of carries then remembered I’ve never paid for one in 16 years of wow and everything good I’ve done in the game (green fire, mage tower etc) I got myself.
  • Researched. Got advice, started to try and build contacts in the pvp community. Began to meet a few good people. Also got better at searching for groups, using addons to see group comp, to track their pvp rating etc.
  • Am now 1741. Getting to 1800.
  • And it’s been incredibly satisfying. It’s a ladder I never tried before and have really appreciated. It’s fun, I’ve learnt a lot and played at a higher level of wow pvp than I ever really did before (bar some arenas in older expansions).
  • Also have REALLY appreciated the gearing being useful for my heroic raiding. Not perfect but it’s meant I can avoid grinding mythic+ which I hate.

When I see people talk about ‘being one shotted’ all I can think is ‘a lot of you don’t do rated pvp’. I do run into teams who crush mine when we’re on a win streak but its the game. I don’t really blame the gear, just the way MMR jumps so heavily.

Sometimes it’s my team being bad. I played against 2 fantastic horde teams last night who destroyed mine and in both cases I felt ‘wow… you guys played perfectly.’ I actually learned BG tips watching them dominate mine.

But most of the stories seem to be specifically related to random matching. E.g. ‘I went into a skirmish and was destroyed’. And yeah! That’s awful. It’s really annoying. But heck, random teams themselves are terrible. If I’m in a skirmish with me, a demo lock and a prot warrior (this has happened) and matched against a fire mage, WW and HPally? I despair.

But that’s something you could solve with ilvl matching in random BGs. Create matchups based on what you’ve got access to. Simple and avoids crippling pvp gear in pve content (which is my major concern with this idea).

i dont think people would have much of an issue with it if there was a pathway to obtain the upper levels of gear through casual play like WoD did. if youre a casual player then you will sit at 200 until next season getting worked down by others that focus on climbing ranks.

this.

i know personally my network of ‘go to’ players are mia and have been since mid legion, few here and there come back to check the game but only last a few weeks and bounce.

Not sure about other players with ranked gear but I never go into random bgs unless I’m gearing an alt or need to do a quest. Maybe they should just remove ranked gear in non ranked pvp. If I will concede any scaling keep it to just unranked pvp. So a 226 piece scales down to 200. Done deal. Why would a ranked player give a crap about that. But it’s nice to keep scaling out of other areas so we can pop in and do covenant solo content m+ raids etc. So we don’t need two sets of gear.
