Don't Ban for Poor Game Design | AFK BG groups

Honestly the next step in the activism campaign would be pretending to play but intentionally losing as fast as possible. Just need to be banned just as much as the gold sellers, gold buyers and bots. There’s no difference and they hurt the game just as much as the former.

So do we just ban anyone who isn’t performing to your standard of play?

Healer sucks, undergeared, can’t heal you, do you ban him because he can’t keep you alive?
By your logic, he is throwing the match, intentionally!

Well, no, they probably didn’t. That’s because this started off as a re-release, not a remaster. But maybe a remaster is what’s needed now.

Counterpoint: non-participation in battlegrounds should start with a 16 day ban.

This would be the natural flowchart to people who want to throw games but also reinforce their ability to win trade games without repercussions.

There’s investigations that happen when a premade is reported for doing this. Everything from chat logs to where people go and how they play. This isn’t Report —> Ban. There is a process.

Add a negative honor system!

Bottom damage? THAT’S A 50 HONOR POINT MINUS!
No objectives capped? 50 HONOR POINT MINUS FOR YOU!
Boosted character? FIIIFTYYYY HP MINUS!

We’re making BGs great again. :upside_down_face:

I think banning people until TBC starts on June 1st is good. But when it starts happening after TBC starts, they should be banned for the entire PvP season if an investigation verifies this intentional win trading effort.

Listen, I’m trying my best, okay?

My man.

Blizzard’s crew cannot even handle bots and flyhack farmers flying around picking flowers on video…
Who is going to review every single game and player that gets reported, either legitly or falsely by some angry neckbeard who lost an AB?

Really. This is just getting dumb.

We’re talking about random queue Battlegrounds in Classic WoW, no rankings, no prestige, nothing. Just a currency number that magically goes up and when you hit a certain number you can buy a piece of loot.
This isn’t a tournament, there is nothing beyond that.

You play the crap BGs Alli never win anyway get a mark in less than 6 minutes a game then wait till next weekend for AV honor weekend and collect your entire set (thats when you do something with the mark).

I’m a little peeved they won’t miss the first week of TBC.

If there’s any #somechanges that I’d want for a battleground it would be putting a threshold on game duration and not rewarding marks for a loss that is under the threshold.

Warsong - 8 minutes
AB - 10 minutes
AV - 12 minutes
EOTS - 10 minutes

There are legitimate blowouts that happen with premades, but this would incentivize even pugs to burn time through playing for objectives and stalling until at least they reach these thresholds. And people who intentionally lose would have literally nothing to work towards.

And the length of games needed to get a single mark would be completely pointless for farming as it defeats even the fantastical proposition that it is good marks per hour.

I’m against removing the marks for losses as participation and reward for finishing a match is REQUIRED to prevent people from dropping out of a possible losing match. But that’s the thing, participation would be needed.

This is how you increase horde queue times to over an hour.
People will literally stop playing all together.
There is nothing fun about waiting 30 minutes to meet a 10 or 15 man premade and getting pooped on, and oh, by the way, you get nothing! GET GOOD SCRUBS! lolol

There was a time when I suspected that there were different queues for people who were reported for not trying, as I wouldn’t ever see them again.

I don’t queue BGs at all now, so I won’t see them at all. I did queue last week for a couple days, just to get marks for a pvp mount on my pally, and only encountered 1 group of people who were trying to AFK. They seemed to be a 10 man premade, and they just make the AB unenjoyable for the 5 of us who weren’t part of it.

Of course we reported them.

If you cannot make the game last longer than the minimum threshold for a game to win, then you AFK’d on purpose because you wanted to take the quick loss. Surrendering as soon as the game starts is almost as bad as surrendering before the game is queued for.

I can see people who fight and eventually decide they are outmatched, but by the time someone makes that decision, it will have been much longer than the stated thresholds.

Maybe a few people. Plenty of people would be content to just “get this over with” to get to the next one. That’s why they added the deserter debuff. Not going my way? I’ll just leave and get a better group. Those people had no problem not getting anything by just leaving, so they’d probably also have no problem just letting the other team win as fast as possible to get back into the queue.

Apparently you’ve never rolled over a pug with a full naxx geared team. AB can last under 5 minutes, EASILY.

I agree these bans should be lowered or blizzard should say something instead of just banning people for the pre-patch they need to have a better reward system in play or just let it rock instead of going out of their way to make more and more people quit

For season 1, 2 and 3 this gear disparity doesn’t exist. For season 4 we MIGHT see a gear disparity that MIGHT be close to what we have in prepatch.

TLDR - It’s different in TBC.

Yeah, they literally added achievements for winning games hella fast. They’re not the norm, but they happen. You can get 5 capped out of the gate even when you’re trying to win.

Bad enough getting curb stomped when you’re trying to win, but getting no honor or marks on top of it is salt in the wound.
