…so you’re attacking strawmen.
Okay. Have fun.
If we go down this inane route then the discussion is moot and the boost is just part of the game, nothing more.

nor are you it is a discussion is all
Biggest meh ever.
Wow token is one thing, but the mount (if it’s even real) isn’t. It’s a cosmetic, a skin. It provides not function over a regular mount beyond the cosmetics. Something you indicated you were fine with, so what’s the problem?
Pay to win involves paying to enhance player power. Walking through The Dark Portal at lvl 58 isn’t a player power issue, at all.
Please let go of your fear mongering, chicken little view on life. The sky isn’t falling. Boosts are good. You’re gonna be OK
If we’re comparing time spent in game it isn’t asinine. But go ahead and justify the purchased power in your mind by saying it’s only comparable to people of their respective level instead of time invested.
The post you originally quoted was talking about people defining what is or isn’t P2W in this thread. I’m not attacking a strawman, somebody has literally said their definition of P2W is anything that players cannot obtain without paying real money for it.
You just made an assumption and decided to attack me over it.
Congratulations. You’ve finally reached my original point.
People here are caught up in winning a semantics debate about what is or isn’t P2W rather than discussing the merits of what is being sold.
imagine still being mad over a 58 boost lmao!
There is no definition of “win” in wow. It is a sandbox mmo(formerly rpg). Thus boosting is not pay to win. This is what the pro-boost argument boils down to.
I’ll reserve any and all judgements about the game until we play it first.
This post is hilarious. Ashes of Creation is in Pre-Alpha so pretty sure they are not having to deal with players who would be left behind.
And in the industry, character boosts are not considered pay to win because leveling is not considered winning the game. Other activities are and leveling is just a way to get to end game where most activities that would be considered ‘winning’ the game can be earned.
Which means, Ashes of Creation has not committed to excluding character boosts when the game is 2+ years old.
And Ashes of Creation has already announced there will be microtransactions. So not a good choice to put against TBC.
…so you’re attacking a strawman.
What is being sold is a catch-up mechanism for starting TBC, nothing more.
That game should be called Trashes of Creation because it is pretty awful.
WoW > all
(Is this the part where I get called a blizzard shill now?)
You also need to inform us how much they’re paying you per post, yes.
Tree fiddy per post
Time isn’t a game currency. You don’t acquire anything by simply existing in game and there are so few and far between time constraints that they don’t even matter. This isn’t some AFK mobile game where you can accrue resources by not touching the game for 2-weeks and letting it run.
Which one is higher level?
Ooooo… I know I know, this a trick question, clearly player D who paid RL for the boost is higher level.
Frankly Im just sick of cash shops in general, even dumb things like cosmetics. It’d be nice if there was one game and company out there that just worried about making a terrific game and left off with the incessant money grubbing.
Just make a good game, it aint hard.
As far as Ashes of Creation goes they’re just another one of those all too familiar birds that talks the talk. Whether they walk it is something else entirely - everyone has a price and its just a matter of meeting it - those guys are hardly above it all.

Personally I love cosmetics in games and hate that they’re often split from the game to be sold for like $4.99 each, then people act like the only thing that should matter in the game is the power of your weapon/character/whatever.
At least WoW has a lot of nice looking gear and 95% of it is obtainable in-game.
I always thought Vanilla had pretty good armor. And I have always liked their mounts as well. Although I always wished there was an easier way to get mounts from allied races in Vanilla.
I get where you are going with all this but time (or more accurately, having the time) is the biggest prerequisite of all the prerequisites. Without it, you have zero recourse.
The only way to get time that you didnt spend is to buy it. You spend real money to a third party leveling service, buy someone else’s account or in this case just buy it direct from the company who only sells boosts because they care, love and respect you and the game and no other reason.
I know someone will point to in game mage boosts and I dont have a high opinion of that either but it is what it is - people will always take the cheap way out if they know they can get away with it. You see it from time to time when you invest time in a genre like this.
