No. We don’t have to have the credentials and power to make something better to know when something is bad.
No?
Then pray tell, by what repeatable measuring system are you determining this? Let’s prove it out.
Subscriptions aren’t entirely relevant since Blizzard isn’t talking about them anymore, but let’s approach general player opinion and critical response. A lot of players are unhappy with how BFA works, and Blizzard have had to change things several times to make something not as bad as it was. The reason Shadowlands is so popular to people is because it brings back abilities that should never have been removed in the first place, and so far there’s no hint of an infinite grind nor garbage like azerite traits or corruption.
You are not being honest if you defend everything about modern WoW as if nothing is bad and nothing could be done better.
?
Are you ignoring my question on purpose?
Are you ignoring this on purpose?
We don’t have a metric anymore since Blizzard stopped reporting subs.
I do not suspect that you did this on purpose, but you’ve quoted yourself, and made it look like that was a quote from me.
It isn’t.
I asked:
by what repeatable measuring system are you determining this?
And you ignored that.
I do not suspect that you did this on purpose, but you’ve quoted yourself, and made it look like that was a quote from me.
I meant to quote myself with that one, as I was specifically referencing the point I addressed a measurement metric.
And you ignored that.
No, I didn’t. We don’t have a metric anymore since Blizzard stopped reporting subs. We only have critical response and player opinion. Both have been resoundingly negative about BFA.

While by no means comprehensive, looking at the number of logs uploaded to WCL in Retail vs. Classic is illustrative. There’s like a 10x difference between the two, so we don’t really need precise metrics to know that many many more people are engaging with Classic than with Retail despite the current retail raids being way better designed than anything Classic has to offer.

I assumed that to be the case, and I do not suspect you to be arguing in bad faith. I have full respect for you and your opinions.

Hmmm. OK.
This doesn’t really work to support your claim, nor to answer my question about your claim.
I reject forthright your claim that you know something is bad, based on your inability to provide any evidence.

True, though it only focuses on raids. My problem with modern WoW has a lot more to do with the general design (infinite grind, long list of chores to do, horrible catch ups for alts, terrible design like Legion legendaries, and corruption) and not just the raids.

We don’t need to have the credentials or hard evidence to suggest something is bad. Especially when it’s not just my opinion, but a common one. People with more credentials than me have specifically talked about these systems and why they’re bad.
Especially when it’s not just my opinion, but a common one.
This is actually the crux of the dispute. If it were just your opinion, I would not question it.
You claim it is not. There is nothing to support that.
I mean, that’s a very, very easy bar to rise up to.
You’ve literally claimed “common” with regards to this opinion. That’s a tall order to fill with regards to providing proof.
Especially when it’s not just my opinion, but a common one.
Agreed. I think the log comparison just speaks to your point though - far less people are engaging with arguably the best done aspect of modern WoW compared to Classic (high end raiding) precisely because everything else about the game is so disappointing to play.

I mean it’s my opinion, but it’s shared by a lot of people. And a lot of people with large audiences. Bellular, Asmongold, a lot of serious raiders too hate the amount of RNG they have to roll all the time to stay relevant.

No it isn’t.
a lot of people with large audiences.
How many are you calling “a lot?” - I don’t think we agree on the meaning of this.
a lot of serious raiders too
Same question.
hate the amount of RNG they have to roll all the time to stay relevant.
Uhhh… ok I like red napkins (what does that have to do with anything?)
No it isn’t.
Okay. Doesn’t change the fact corruption, for example, is terrible design and is hurting the game overall.

Blizzard is trying to keep people playing by infesting the game with RNG, instead of making compelling content.
Doesn’t change the fact corruption, for example, is terrible design and is hurting the game overall.
What?
So far off topic my friend. I guess the only real conclusion is, “you are lying.”

Corruption was one of the things I was mentioning as terrible design, something we don’t need the credentials to call terrible design, and that a lot of people have this opinion - including those with large audiences who are normally pro-Blizzard.
Question Frosto… can you name one major World of Warcraft personality that likes the RNG that was Warforging/Titanforging/Corruption? because honestly I can’t think of any… but maybe that is because I’ve come in on the tail end with that 3 day BFA return for free.
I have no problem with Ghostcrawler. If anything, he was much better at talking to the community and explaining the reasoning behind systems and changes in a satisfying way than the current dev team is.
I remember thinking he was one of the best parts of the WotLK beta, actually.
Looking back, I enjoyed the game a lot more in Wrath/Cata/Mists than I do now in BFA. It wasn’t perfect and I’m sure ghostcrawler has his fair share of the blame for the issues, as well.
But also a fair share of the successes.
