As always, the loot system in wow is objectievly trash.
To quote a strange man…
If I don’t steal it, somebody else gonna steal it.
Massive difference between rolling on something you will equip that someone else just has a larger ilvl deficit on VS rolling on something you want to vendor for 56 gold or disenchant or even mog.
Need is need. No one is suggesting LFR should be Loot Council.
The people who roll Need regardless of what they intend to do with the item are a problem. Not people rolling Need to use the item.
I understand that Transmog acquisition is in a place that doesn’t make sense in LFR and Blizzard DOES need to change that though. A Transmog Roll will never win. Ever. There will always be someone hitting Need between LFR being a carousel of low-geared characters, greedy players, and players who have already switched to hitting Need for it due to the first 2 groups making it necessary.
The OP isn’t exactly tricky enough to bamboozle folks into outing themselves. It would be fun if we could actually see who really always passes something that’s not an ilevel upgrade though.
Now we have three topics started over the last few days all about the same issue. These should be combined into one forum post in my humble opinion.
That said, I will go into content not expecting anything as I am there for the adventure. Maybe it’s something I need or something I can help others out.
When an item drops, I will look at it and if I can see if it’s an upgrade I will roll Need. I will never roll Greed and I will Pass if I can’t figure out if it’s an upgrade because you can’t tell if a 1/8 will eventually be better at 8/8 then what I might already be using.
While most people don’t click Trans mog because they know they automatically lose to Need, I actually will even though I know it is a loss. I do this because that is the social expectations or intent that was put forth by most gaming companies that have implemented a Need before Greed system.
You can use whatever logic you want to justify Trans mog should be a need and Trans mog is forever. But just like gear, it will be replaced ever season and expansion, that color tint you want, was taking from someone who is trying to improve to do better in future content was robbed of an upgrade.
Blizzard needs to make the Trans mog roll separate from the NbG system. Let people that want it as a Trans mog win an appearance only version. They could also make it so if you have a higher version of the gear unlock all lower versions of the gear. Finally, they could introduce Armor Dye as an Alchemist recipe so people could open up other colors.
No, it’ll still be in my mog list same as it is now and the appearance will be just as useful as it is today, unlike gear that’s not useful as soon as the next tier is available.
Nah not once I’ll eventually get what I want. The things people do in this game crack me up I never take this game seriously who cares.
I roll it so I can give it to them.
Yes, it will be permeant in your trans mog list, but like the other thousands of trans mog pieces you can get and rarely ever use, it will be forgotten in time. Every season, every expansion something you will want to trans mog will be added. So, like gear that is a upgrade for that player to improve their performance at that moment in time, you too will upgrade your color scheme and not look back.
Anyways good luck in your travels. May your foes bring you loot that the RNG Gods favor you with.
Interesting how people in GD even know what mogs everyone else uses!
I do neither. I don’t bother inspecting others, nor do I get mad.
I don’t get mad, people carry in LFR for transmog and they have a right to it.
If I win a piece that isn’t particularly attractive I will look at the list of runner ups on the rolls and give it to 2nd or 3rd place if its a huge upgrade and they aren’t standing in the fire.
Regularly, in SoD I’ve given about three pieces I’ve won to other raid members, because they had greens instead of blues.
I feel like I’m being watched, because the raid decided to drop warrior pieces within that lockout, most of the time after I did that.
Also, the folks invited me to their guild, they want me around now lol.
I made friends through my generous actions.
I actually did this the other day on my evoker in a Normal that had less than 20 people, I think ended up passing on the mail belt from Volcoross because someone had an adventurer belt still, then proceeded to roll a 100 on the Volc neck over someone’s 99.
Eh sometimes I see who needs it most and if they roll low I will try to roll to help them and pass it to them.
But only if the low roller is being out rolled by those who don’t need it.
Especially if it’s guildies in the raid.
Wonder if there’s an addon that can tell you the gear rollers are trying to replace that they currently wear to what they are needing on.
Could be something interesting to use.
Why? Need is need.
How a 480 needing on an item a 440 needs and winning any different than a 440 needing on an item that a 424 needs and winning?
Both people are taking something someone else could use more than themselves. So that brings me back to the OP. Are you going to pass on everything so long as someone else in the raid has a lower ilvl than you?
No? Okay, so stop being hypocritical.
I did leave it kind of obvious and answered the question myself in the OP but you do happen to notice that there’s not 100’s of people in here justifying why their 440 need roll over a 424 is different than the 460’s need roll over them
This topic isn’t about that lol.
I don’t even check who clicked need, and judging from all the posts on this subject, I am happier for it.
If we’re assuming LFR the loot would still be an actual upgrade from 440 I think (and they’d get the mog.)
But yes I know what you’re getting at.
What self-respecting adult would care about how they look when the dragon queen has called us to embark on an urgent quest to stop the fire incarnate from burning the magic world tree. Very serious adult stuff.
