…inspect everyone who’s eligible for a piece of loot to see if someone else “needs” it more than you, and if there is someone, do you pass to increase their chances of getting the item?
Or do you roll for it because you want it for yourself?
…so now isnt that considered a double standard when you get mad at the 470+ player for doing exactly what you planned to do?
where? in LFR? because it’s personal loot in M+ and it’s Loot Council in guild raids.
there’s too many people to inspect in LFR.
i’d ask that you … localize … your question.
in SoD if I see an item that is not my armor type and not my BiS but an upgrade regardless, i will wait to see if a class that the item is bis for rolls NEED on it first, then I’ll NEED if none of them do.
In LFR, I hit the need button if able or greed if unable then leave the group. I don’t wait. I don’t care, you usually have too many people pulling shenanigans from the run. Need roll then out.
After a mythic run, I will wait a couple mins to see if anyone asks for the drop then leave. I don’t waste time inspecting anyone. I could care less. If I’m triggered about something from the run, I’ll just disband right away and hearth out.
I have always found it amusing to see a clothie roll on mail or plate or leather, and the opposite as well. There’s a myriad of reasons, unbeknownst to me why one would roll need on things they can’t use but alas I have come up with a few reasons:
Enchanting mats (those poor blue or purple upgrades! They’re now dust I tell ya)
Gold
selfishness? (I dunno, I usually just pass on stuff I know I can’t use, or have better of)
Transmog! (SWEET LIGHT ALMIGHTY I NEED THAT DAGGER)
Again Those are possibilities, from my observations. And RNG just absolutely hates me anyway. But good luck on rolls!
Not all the time but I’d say about eh…2/10 of the time. It really depends on the players attitude. Like say we’re in a regular dungeon and the tank is just hogging the loot for their off spec or so they claim while also just being rude. That’s sus to me and I end up feeling bad for the folks just trying to gear up for their main specs.
If say the tanks just chill while gearing up their off spec, I don’t care.
On the rare occasions that I still run LFR, this is similar to what I do.
I do hit need, then inspect to see if the others, in roll order, need it more, and then trade with the guy who needs it most, if any.
I don’t give a flying fudge what anyone is wearing. I’ve accepted the fact I have bad luck many years ago since when I don’t win something I could use I just mutter “figures.”
if I cant use it as in its a DPS upgrade I do not roll need . Like most adults I gave up playing dressups around 8-10 years of age .
When Personal loot was in for LFR I did inspect other mail wearers so i knew who needed a piece of gear the most and if I happened to win something I would open trade with right away and pass it to them ( mains a Hunter)
Im just going to put it out there: this thread was directed at the hypocrites who try to shame a higher ilvl for winning loot over them when they themselves win rolls over people lower ilvl than them.
And yet all im seeing for the most part is in direct contradiction to all those “i cant believe you can roll need when…” threads.
For the record, if its not an upgrade, i pass as well. Side grades get passed on as well
