Do you think there is life out there in space?

Not so much in a predator civilization its survival think of all the crap we have to deal with on earth magnified 100000% once we leave our cushy little rock the universe shows her fangs.
From quasars to super novas to black holes to colliding galaxys the amount of life ending possibilities out there make you want to hide under a rock.
Any civilization that survives that and achieves interstellar travel probably wouldnt consider us intelligent we would probably be more like ants at best interesting for a min or 2.
They would be interested far more in resources we have and what we might not even know we have or could use and just take it kinda like old 80-90 sci fi the aliens show up to take water or oxygen etc.
Honestly if we do encounter another race Id hope it was atleast a rank 7 and friendly then we could join a federation/multi galactic empire class civilization instead of being wiped out. A rank 7 has pretty much seen the entirety of the universe and overcame everything it could throw at them except a total collapse of the universe.
Other than that rank omega would be something else a race that couldin theory just be creating universes at will and that dives into a string theory/multiverse empire thing and that just gets even more insane.

See my post above lol.

It would be far simpler to go elsewhere for the bounty if resources around every corner than come here.

Of course, there is.

And the fact that they stay away from us proves they are intelligent :stuck_out_tongue:.

Not really you find a edible berry bush you pick some berries your traveling stars systems and you need water like say out system you have about 4 or so valid options 3 being ice moons or one giant liquid puddle.
Also I pointed that out way above myself :stuck_out_tongue:
It would depend highly on what they need is what Im getting at, and we have no way of knowing/stopping them. Which is why Id want a rank 7 they wouldnt need jack from us lol we might end up on their version of nat geo at the very least lol.
Pretty much anything on the scale between 4-6 is extremely expansionist in theory think rise of alexander the great versus a 7+civ would be the roman empire golden age.

So we’re to assume that a space fairing species would not have prior things in place for food and that in order to travel they’d have to constantly ravage inhabited planets from the start of their journey to their destination?

Nah. I’m confident that they’d have gotten that solved as well. There’s a reason we ourselves aren’t at mars yet and won’t be in the near future despite what space x would like us to think lol

We are the aliens. We come from a close planet where the gravity is less. That is why we all have back pain.

The egg laying species are from here. Mammals are from away and are imported.

It’s defiantly possible for the simple reason we exist.

It’s not probable that we are close enough to ever have contact or evidence of their existence

I just hope there isn’t a planet of Xenomorphs out there somewhere…

Just waiting for some dumb Humans to come and poke their eggs…

Not so much ravage but you would want to colonize planets in your way so the return/future trips would be easier. Thats the excessive expanse I was talking about, once we leave earth goal one is destination and return goal two is shortening the time and extending resources for further travels.
Think of a hydrogen gas planet like jupiter becoming a giant space ship gas station planet, if we could tap into that power source the star system we live in inside the milky way would be ours especially if we could identify more planets just like it and harvest them that opens up the galaxy.
Figuring out how to shorten the travel time like figuring out how to travel at light speed while lowering the needed fuel we start to go beyond the milkyway and you would want to colonize as many habitable planets in the travel path. Why? because if something went wrong you would have a known place to be rescued/wait til someone came by to be picked up.

I think there is.

If Carl Sagan believes there is life in the Universe than so do I. Time to board the spaceship and go exploring.

Yes. It would be at the very least arrogant to think we are the only sentient beings in the universe.

Humans would want to do that based on their biological needs, mind set, ect.

There is a good chance aliens would be alien with different biological needs, mind set, ect.

Hubris, as one poster said.

One of the biggest issues humans have is thinking everything is going to be like us.

Like I said before above no civilization/lifeform can exist with out the ability to draw energy from their environment that comes in all forms from food to power. Unless that civilization is a universe creating omega class from day one they need energy to survive especially traveling star systems.

Yes, but I also believe Azeroth is real so…

Nope.

It’s miraculous that it happened once.

It because thats the only metric we have to go by until we discover squid world.

Which is why it’s hubris. I’m not saying it’s not a possibility that your right. It is possible.

I’m saying that I don’t agree and I view it differently. :yum:

Im saying its not hubris if we know it happened via X Y Z then looking for another XYZ is the best shot we have to finding it else where.
