Do you think a day will ever come where all races are neutral and you choose which faction you want?

No.
And I hope never.

The alliance already lets undead terminators with an inherent need to inflict violence and practicioners of probably the most dangerous magic in the whole WoW universe into SW.

I think it’s inevitable. And we will all be on the same server.

Imo they should get rid of warmode, and bring back pvp servers. But actually mske them pvp servers. Disable raids and dungeons, the entire world is designed around pvp. Cool pvp world events, cool pvp server specific BG or arena events or something, enforced faction balance. Its not like leveling takes a long time anymore. The faction divide can live on on these new pvp servers.

On all other servers, every city should just be neutral to the opposite faction, maybe keep a few flavor things for nostalgia. We have cross faction guilds, theres zero reason why i cant walk into Org, or whisper horde players, or queue up with horde players.

nice one

I remember it well. But that was the aforementioned “one day truce”. I don’t take that to mean that the Alliance is suddenly extremely tolerant of the Forsaken and willing to accept anyone who wishes to join. But perhaps I missed a clause or don’t remember it, it’s been a while after all.

Same. Seeing racial segregation between the factions as an enrichment for the game is more than questionable.

I mean, if they were truly neutral they wouldn’t be assigned Alliance or Horde on character creation, they stopped doing those after Pandaren.

Actually Forsaken have zero needs lol however eating flesh of recently deceased living seems to provide regenerative effects to Undead including the Forsaken.

As for acceptance it’s a mixed bag some don’t care whilst others still do.

I hope not because I love factions and despise the removal of faction identity.

If anything, I want more options for factions to join.

No, I don’t think there will, because races that weren’t neutral when they were introduced were not meant to become neutral later, and if there are no faction-locked races, then there’s next to no point in having factions.

You want to play as a Horde draenei so bad, then you better hope they add krokul or something similar as a neutral race in the future, because they’re not changing the starting experiences for draenei and Lightforged to explain why some of their members are suddenly in the Horde. You want to play an Alliance blood elf, you can pretty much do that already.

This is my problem with the continued unification of factions and races. The war is over, everyone can group together, more race/class combos are available than ever, and warbands are now a thing so your alts are now one big family, so after races and classes and based on what I’ve seen GD suggest, all that’s left is to make everyone share racials, cities, hairstyles, and heritage armors so your choice of race becomes completely cosmetic and the game becomes even less of an RPG.

Of course it is.
Honestly, I’ve given up trying to argue with this person. In their opinion, the leaders’ views hold no weight in deciding whether or not a race should be accepted, which undermines any point of discussion.

Whether all members of a faction agree has never mattered before and never will. Simply because you can’t please everyone. This is obviously true both in the real world and in a fictional one. We’re not talking about a hive mind thinking here. There will always be those who are against it, just as there will always be those who are for it.

But pretending that every single member of a race thinks the same is nonsense and honestly just sounds like “Don’t you dare touch my fictional racism. Having racial segregation in the game somehow makes it more diverse and less restrictive.”

Anyway, OP, I still believe that removing racial segregation between factions would not only feel much more natural, but would also give players more freedom, as they wouldn’t be forced into a faction they might not even like. Everyone could then be in their favorite faction with their favorite races. Win-win.

Edit:
Not to mention that the Alliance has already made three of their cities neutral. It doesn’t get much more tolerant than that when even the Night Elves and Worgen are letting Undead (and all the other Horde races) into their homes. But sure, let’s pretend that everyone in the game is still super racist.^^

I wasn’t serious.

That’s wrong. I’m using your exact argument.
You’re saying that if the leaders agree, all of the other faction members will follow suit. That is hivemind, too. You completely rule out the possibility that the leader represents the views of a minority.

Though, even a leader cannot act completely against the interests of his people.

??

  1. Nobody said that. But there are mainstream and minority opinions.
  2. Bringing up “fictional racism” is intellectually pathetic, because undead/zombies are not a “race” lol.

How would it negatively affect you to allow players to pick the Faction they want their favorite race to be on? Like why does every Human have to be part of the Alliance? Exactly why does your race have any impact on your faction? That’s like saying because an American lives in America that they have to support their President because they live in America but that is simply not how it works.

You think ISIS is comprised of just people from ONLY middle eastern countries? Yeah no, you’ve got Americans in it to (an extreme example I know but it is a factual, valid, undeniable example never the less and if people want to ignore the facts in favor of some misguided opinion then very well). Your cultural background should never be what depicts your choices in life or what organization you are part of. Humans shouldn’t be stuck in just the Alliance “Just cause” if the Pandaren and Dracthyr can pick then so should everyone else be allowed to pick or the whole faction thing should be taken out.

Bottom line if you don’t like the idea of people getting to pick that’s fine, but the reality of the matter is that there are a lot more people then you who want it to happen and more then likely it eventually will so you should start getting used to the idea cause it has a stronger chance of happening then you might think.

Tbh factions feel like they exist in name only already, especially if you play with War Mode turned off. Feels like Guild Wars 2. Not a bad thing tbh. I have literally zero objections to the game letting me play, chat, party/raid with characters on the other faction when we see it canonically happening so much already.

For PvP, any alliance or horde players playing on the opposite team already get a visual disguise anyways so that base is covered too. At this point it just seems like another remnant of a bygone era that serves virtually no purpose besides fracturing the playerbase

I think it’s pretty unlikely. There are just a lot of systems and mechanics that had to be overcome to make cross faction guilds and things work.

Plus I think it would shake up things too much.

It breaks people immersion by also breaking the lore, making cheap, lazy and awful

no, but it doesnt mean he need to be part of the horde

This is part of WARCRAFT SETTING that you play, you abide by the setting rules and lore.

Because it is how it was created and made so since 30 eyars ago.

Thats lame comparison to real world events, if you didnt notice, americans are not actually monsters with green or blue skin tusks and fangs

Source?

People already can join the same guild and make group together, there is no need for this dumb stuff

I hope so. I want some alliance races to be on horde. Just prefer horde cities and mounts.

Bring back PvP servers, retain factions for those and storytelling reasons.

Pointless, every aspect of the factions is homogenized and bland. The Horde used to be the evil orc faction with monsters and the alliance were the good guys. Now everyone is the same and the factions don’t even need to exist outside a lore excuse to have PvP.

When Ion steps down yes. He’s too focused on “alliance vs horde” nonsense to give us proper cross-ques.
