Again, no race is a monolith. Yes, my toon might have misgivings about the Alliance, again, what if the racism Garrosh and the Orcs showed outweighed that in her mind?
Do you think a day will ever come where all races are neutral and you choose which faction you want?
Factions are good.
Keep them. We need them. Theyâre good for the soul of warcraft.
Let the people play together, though.
It baffles me that some people find it acceptable for all races, except Pandaren and Dracthyr, to be treated as if they follow a hive mind.
The races in WoW are inspired by humans, and regardless of where you come from or what time period it is, even during wartime, there have always been groups that think differently from others and have their own reasons for joining a particular side. Itâs only natural. This is what free will is all about.
Clinging to an outdated racial segregation principle seems more than out of place to me. Not only is it unnatural, but it also unnecessarily restricts playersâ freedom, forcing them into a faction they might not even like.
Dornogal is probably the best looking city in the game imo.
They did a fantastic job with it.
Mythological figures, not races. A small but important difference.
If my zombie wants to join the Alliance, he wonât be welcome because heâs a rotting corpse. My zombie also has a need for brains. The Alliance cannot satisfy that need. Itâs probably illegal there.
Your zombie is still inspired by humans and has the ability to think freely, or not? Itâs ironic that youâre using the undead as an example, where free will plays such a significant role in their lore.
Furthermore, itâs ironic that you chose the undead, because we even have it in writing that many undead want to return to the Alliance, and both Anduin and Genn are welcoming them. This particular group was killed by Sylvanas. Without a doubt, there will be more who want to return but didnât dare to under Sylvanas. The Alliance would take them back.
If you want to use lore as a counterargument, it would be wise to know it.
Few, not many.
And as a side note: free will, yes, but no more positive emotions and feelings.
They wouldnât, thatâs the essential point since classic.
âBeware the livingâ is not just an empty phrase, and just because Anduin wants something doesnât mean the majority of his people support him.
I do. The Gathering doesnât revise the entire lore of the Forsaken.
Please read before the storm and then come back to the thread. Once again, it has been confirmed that the Alliance is willing to accept the undead.
Genn is the biggest opponent of the undead (for good reason, as they not only took his kingdom but also his son from him), and yet he was still willing to accept them.
Just because you want to have a misunderstood outsider, bloodthirsty monster, or whatever as your headcanon for the race, that doesnât make it valid for all of them. Certainly for individuals, no one is disputing that, but youâre trying to enforce a hive mentality on an entire race, which is simply nonsensical.
Honestly, Ive always thought race shouldnât be tied to factions.
Let people play the races they want with the faction they wantâŚ
I dont care about factions, I just want to be able to queue up for anything with anyone Im playing with. Theyâve made strides in that aspect but still some silly restrictions
Give a page number. Perhaps I have overlooked the passage from which you take this information.
And what Genn thinks and wants doesnât really matter either. As you said yourself: The factions arenât hiveminds, but that goes both ways.
What I am saying describes the vast majority of the Forsaken and the Alliance. There are exceptions, of course - there are always exceptions. But those exceptions are not necessarily accepted by the other majority.
And this is not my âheadcanonâ, this is the lore of the Forsaken since Classic.
Feel free to see for yourself. I recommend starting with SoD (itâs faster).
I read Before the Storm and I can say I wouldnât mind teaming up with some humans. Not all. Anduin and Calia wanted it to happen and may still do, but some humans are stuck up snobs that see undead as monsters. I also wouldnât mind the dwarves. Screw the rest of the alliance.
At this point I would ask : Factions why? servers why? Is it not dead enough to remove those barriers already.
Buddy, Iâm not going to search for the exact pages for you. I have better things to do.
Youâve got two Alliance leaders who openly advocate for reunification with the Forsaken. One of them is Genn, who used to hate the Forsaken the most.
Every other Alliance leader would also agree. The only person who might speak out against it is Tyrande, and since Dragonflight, not only is Genn willingly allowing ALL Horde races into his city, but Tyrande is also letting anyone visit the new World Tree, which was destroyed by the Horde in the first place.
And you seriously want to claim that the Alliance would stand against the Forsaken? Yeah, sure. I bet Shandris and Tess will all of a sudden become super anti undead. xD
if that day happened is the day i truly leave this game
A chapter, then? First half, second half?
How is âa single day of cease-fireâ a reunification with the whole of the forsaken?
You argue strongly with the opinion of the faction leaders.
What about the common pesantry?
Those plot elements involving Gilneas and Amirdrassil were also heavily criticized, and with good reason.
You get used to the smell eventually.
I hope so. And not only do I want all races to be able to be all factions but I would also like the ability to choose racials. Maybe rename them to âbirthrightsâ or something to keep the flavor, but being able to choose racials would help immensely in race representation
Depends. If it looks more and more like players want it, it will never happen.
Because thatâs the one thing alliance lacks. Brains.
I didnât read the WoW books but I remember Sylv set up a meeting for some of the Forsaken to meet with their family members and it went pretty good, alliance agreed to this and everything and then Sylv had a tantrum and killed some of them.
Thatâs all I remember. I got that info from these forums, a thread about how dumb Sylv was and that bit I posted came from someone who knows the lore. This was a couple of years ago, during SLs.
