Do you play ESO? Why or why not?

No, because the game is bad on all levels.

Elder scrolls is only fun as a single player story driven rpg for me. Adding other players into that is just a bad idea.

Visually it just hasnā€™t aged well. Monster models are jarring and jagged. The low resolution landscapes are depressing. Character animations from walking to combat need an overhaul. The abilities and classes for me personally just donā€™t play well.

I donā€™t play it. I never have and never will. Iā€™ve never been a fan of Bethesda games with them being glitchy and just overall unpleasant to play.

Tried. Hated the combat and graphics.

Can someone recommend a good melee class for a first time player? Donā€™t want to tank.

Pretty much this. It looks like an ES game but it plays all wonky. It actually feels like some offbrand version of ES.

Any of them can be, so long as you equip a blade. But if you really like stealth, best go with a Nightblade. Dragonknights tend to be melee too.
There are a few big sites that have set ups. If you google say, dragonknight beginner eso alacast youā€™ll find one of their beginner guides. They are pretty thorough as a jump point.

And I hate tab targeting which is the first target system technique I was exposed to via WoW. I hate that I can tab and end up targeting a mob on the other side of the room when 10 of them are standing right in front of me. It also has its problems in cases where I apply DoTs to a target and I want to switch to another specific target. Tab might hit it next or a dozen button depressions later. With reticle targeting I put the cursor on the target and now who Iā€™m going to hit.

I donā€™t like the global cool down and slow combat in WoW. The GC is also one of the reasons I havenā€™t gone back to play FFXIV even though I like it better than WoW. I like being able to move and fire off skills at the same time and not having to wait for a timer to finish. Add in the fact I can set my movement direction with the mouse and combat is faster moving and more dynamic than what you have in Wow. I do wish the action bars had a couple of more slots but I can live with bar swapping as long as I donā€™t have to wait for a GC.

IMO WoW game play really hasnā€™t progressed from when I last played in WoD. I understand that that is what a number of players want which is ok by me but I rather play a game that uses newer more dynamic play mechanisms such as ESO.

I love Templar, I sometimes play with old friends if I feel like it. Itā€™s so pretty.

In ESO your character can pretty much play melee or ranged class, stamina or magicka and any job (DPS, healer or tank) depending upon the gear you equip and how you allocate your skill/CP points. Not all combinations are ideal but most will work for casual open world play. if you Google AlcastHQ his website has a lot of information and suggested builds. One thing is by default race determines your alliance. This isnā€™t a big deal unless you intend to PvP and can be unlocked for a fee. One last thing. ESO is a horizontal game. You can jump right in at the latest content, from the original quest lines or any chapter (xpac) in between.

Combat is trash and IDK why tf it feels like it is constantly lagging. Playing ESO feels like playing on a bad computer with bad internet at all times.

Tried it for a little bit and didnā€™t go for it. Combat felt uncomfortable and I didnā€™t like the character models.

I tried it. I have a level 7 dragonā€¦paladinā€¦knight person. I couldnā€™t really get into it.

I really hate the gearing system. I have played through several expansions and never feel like I pick up gear thatā€™s any better than what I already have on. ESO is a game I will pick up once a year, play for a while and then forget about.

I played for awhile. Between 2014-2018 I was stuck in bed due to several surgeries going wrong. I played because you can use a controller and I was unable to sit. Itā€™s a good game, I spent a year alone trying to gather recipes (forgot what they call them) for crafting. Burned myself out of that game.

The pvp wasnā€™t fun imo.

Tried it. Liked the character creation options. Problem was I felt lost. No one to play with and no knowledge where to go on to. I think I would have played more and longer if I had a gaming friend to level with. Hahaā€¦sort of like wow!

I felt the same way. Just couldnā€™t get into it.

For a bit.

Didnā€™t like the combat system.

Combat in ESO is HORRIBLE.

If it was anything else Iā€™d probably play it.
