I tried it, didn’t care for it. The combat system is wonky and visually the game is kind of boring.
On and off, I never really cared for the end-game stuff, so it’s essentially just a big Elder Scrolls game where I run into other people sometimes. I like the story, I like the gameplay, and I like my house.
No. The combat doesn’t feel good.
No. Cuz when I play ESO I say to myself “wow does this better.” Also it takes days to download their stupid game. Also Bethesda is just bad at mmos.
Wasn’t for me. Never been a fan of elder scrolls games.
No ESO here. But I did make a Monk in FFXIV that looks like a clone of my WoW Monk!
I have over 400 hours and did every quest and every dungeon (not every dlc dungeon on high difficulty cause they’re borderline impossible with lfg-pugs)
Endgame is collecting transmog and items for house, close to bis gear is on auction house pretty cheap, pretty weird. Not a fan of ESO endgame and pvp is even worse (need specific builds and gear sets to even have a chance, and combat mechanics are not that great).
But questing was great and i’m going to play with every new expansion. Btw WoW lore is trash for kids compared to mountains of complicated TES lore.
ESO is like Skyrim multiplayer but I can’t mod it like I can Skyrim…hic!
It gives me motion sickness. I can play for about thirty minutes and then I’m nauseas for hours. So sad!
i also play…i enjoy being lost again in a game. i log into wow play few months cancel sub come back months later and repeat that till i take a long break.
eso i dont know where im going or what im doing. i play for the sake of playing. theres things to go after and i have to work to get them. i do not have that feeling of i log in and have done this content 30 times over the last 15 years…im doing it once and its going to take a long time till i like i want to log out for a while.
same thing with skyrim…i just started playing it.i cannot believe it took me this long to sit down and play this beautiful game and im only 4 days in.
Yes, I hit v14 back in the day and am 920ish champion level now. I don’t play it all the time though, mostly pick it up for a few months and then quit for a while. Same with SWTOR. WoW is the only MMO I play consistently.
I like the character customisation a lot like I can pick sorcerer main and be an arcane archer or a blood mage vampire whatever. But the shop is too much. Too many people think the shop here is fine yet look at eso everything and anything cool is locked behind real gambling and money.
ESO’s combat is too “floaty” for my taste. I like WOW for the dungeons and raids. I have a sub to FFXIV also. I love the crafting and player housing in FFXIV. If WOW could copy the crafting and player housing from FFXIV. I would play WOW a lot more.
The ESO character models look off to me. gave it a shot earlier but couldn’t stay into it.
I wanted to love ESO. I tried it three times. I don’t think I played it more than half a day any of those times. These are the issues I’ve come up with:
-
It’s not new-player friendly. In ESO, I couldn’t even figure out what I was meant to be doing (yes I know it’s a sandbox but maybe a little info for new players would be helpful that doesn’t involve watching a TWO hour YouTube tutorial just to get started). I’ve never had that problem with any other MMO.

The combat is awkward. The mouse plus keyboard thing just doesn’t work for me. And really the navigation in general is terrible; the fact that the cursor is locked to the camera makes me seasick half the time. I know this is common in other games too but we need to, as a society, move past it lol. WoW’s interface for navigating through the game may be its single greatest achievement.

My first impression of the graphics was “ESO this is amazing” until I started playing and realised the saturation was turned down, I assume to give it a grungy atmosphere, but it also meant I had a hard time seeing what was what, even in daylight. Friends have confirmed that it looks the same on their monitors so it’s not my settings; that’s how the game was designed to look. But then I happen to enjoy WoW’s highly saturated colour scheme. It is fantasy, after all, but it also makes it easier to see what you’re doing (no, I’m not old, and my vision is above-average IRL).

This is more minor but I really hate the transmog system in ESO and the fact that we cannot hide anything but the helmet. And I’ve heard it jokingly called a fashion game, but frankly I was unimpressed both with the number of options available and the options themselves. Most of them were frankly ugly.
It’s probably my favorite MMO. I don’t really do any group instances. Instead I go around and do quests I come across, do delves, gather craft mats, and sometimes farm mobs. One thing that sucks is that ESO seems to have less random mobs running around.
Glad I’m not the only one. Well, I’m not glad, I’d rather be the only one because it sucks.
I did for a while but it just wasn’t my jam. It was fun, don’t get me wrong. Just not something I could play long term I think. It would be fun to pop on now and again, but that’d be about it.
The armor looks awful in that game.
