That’s actually fair. As far as the US goes, my biggest beef is with evangelicals. Other religions tend to be much more chill here.
He could be like me and married a ginger.
absolutely agree! it’s a nightmare here
funny, this thread has been the most civil conversation I’ve seen on the subject
I had a friend who became a born again evangelical. The friendship didn’t last more than a month after their conversion.
Is a 2000-year-old scroll with dozens of variations, translated through dozens of languages from the original language which has been extinct for hundreds of years
With the current translation leaving out a large chunk of books, the Apocrypha, that tells a decidedly different story than what was left in.
incredible self-awareness which is indicative of having a soul…hmmm…
Not to mention the non-canonical gospels that depict child Jesus as a monstrous psychopath
We are all star dust
Your a Star

My sister became a Jehovah Witness - We tried for years, or I did to keep our relationship - recently, still hurts, I just couldn’t - had to do with my new first grandson, and sons - when you just can’t overlook it all anymore.
I’m going to admit or share here why (partially why) despite my all other beliefs I did choose to go back to Catholicism. I discovered it could hold all my other beliefs, and it’s a moving, breathing organism -for me anyway, and I need structure and people around me when I worship. I isolate too much. This is of course not the entire reason, the personal reason is an experience, much (why I quoted Ellie Arroway in Contact above) - that’s all a tiny micro sum up - nobody likes proselytizing. Just my share
PS - I still worship in nature
I’m so glad all of those works are now widely available
Anyone else picturing the OP sitting at their computer with one of those big anime tears running down their cheek because the thread didn’t go how they expected or is it just me?
All these different schools of thought! Wow, I’m loving it. We’re on to philosophy here this question makes me think of Plato’s Allegory of the Cave. Or even the 100th monkey effect. lol I guess it depends on which philosopher is your favorite for the answer.
Poor OP - maybe it went they way they wanted
The problem with “modern religion” is simply that they don’t tell you everything. It’s based on “need to know”-basis.
I’m dying to know what’s in the closed vault of a library in the Vatican! Of heavens, and all the many papers and books of the old ages that were burned or destroyed.
My sister rejected Christianity for a while and became an outspoken aethiest for a good 10 years or so. A little rude at times but nothing I couldn’t handle… but then she hit a phase living out in the country where she became a bit isolated and depressed and starting consuming mass amounts of social media, which lead her down a rabbit hole of conspiracy theories, and long story short, she became Christian again, evangelically so, and thinks reptillian demons control the government and gps tracking chips are in vaccines.
I tried to preserve the relationship but I just can’t. Talking to her is such hard work. She is combative and miserable 100% of the time and it actually affects my mental health, trying to deal with her now.
Yes, there is no book on earth like the Bible.
Even though it was written by man, it is inspired by god, which basically means God authored it he just did it through certain men, regular people like you and I.
The Bible is a book on science, morality, relationships, archaeology, warfare, history, wisdom, love, faith, prophecy, and salvation. Most importantly it is a book about Him.
The Bible is God’s love letter to humanity.
One of my favorite prophecies though, is the jubilee year one that shows exact when Jesus was going to come, 500 years before he actually does, to the exact year.
It is in the book of Daniel, and I will walk everyone here thru it so you can see how amazing God is
I honestly don’t think anyone would recognize Jesus if he appeared amoungst us now.
My about to be new in-laws when my son marries next month are the same, my god in heaven!!! lol
