Do something about boosting

If you want that fixed, go to retail.

Oh wait, seems you’re already there. Enjoy.

I don’t think its a good idea, I’m just saying if you really want boosting gone it’s the only way

Looks like Blizzard agrees with you, OP. Grats!

exactly, you would put those rules like the instance cap in the casual server to prevent “abuse” and leave the other server free

No offense but that sounds like a pretty bad idea. Contrary to popular belief there’s a big difference between being casual and being bad. I don’t get world buffs because I personally think it’s a waste of time, but I use 2 elixirs and Mana pots on every fight. I’m saving flasks for AQ. I also make sure I have a good spec and my gear is set up well. I play about 6-8 hours a week. By definition, I am very casual. And you rules would mean I don’t get to play on the “casual” server. I’d be stuck with a server full of the sweaty types.

They absolutely do not need to resort to level scaling to stop boosting. Just make it so that in an instance, if there is a character +20 levels above the max instance lvl, that no experience is given to the group. The can still get carries for gear and quests.

Level scaling wouldn’t do much for Mara or ZG boosting. Maybe giving diminishing returns for killing a bunch of mobs in a short amount of time where you can only earn Y XP points every few minutes and mobs in raids dont give any XP at all.

But that makes it so you “can’t play with your friends”. Also mages will just twink at the max level for whatever dungeon they’re doing carries for.

Again, I’m not saying level scaling is a good idea for classic. I’m just saying if you really want to get rid of boosting permanently it’s the “best” solution. Anything other than scaling or hard level caps for dungeons has ways around it.

If its so dumb, why do you keep replying and bumping it?

Right, and now without boosting there still won’t be any. They simply won’t level.

Boosting has always existed. High levels easily running lower level content and allowing a low level player to leech the gear is a way of life. Day 1.

I mean, you can only do the same 5 quests so many times.

Much as I hate to admit it, this is probably true.

For you.

For us, who nearly always try to fight challenging mobs, it is barely noticed. And of course woW has “tiered” or partial scaling, so you can still mow down minions without danger to feel your power increase*.

*the power increase that comes from levels, NOT the increase from professions, zones, story, quests, gear, abilities, and talents ofc.

You can’t “twink” being +20 levels above the max dungeon level. Also, there is nothing stopping you from “playing” with friends. They can create an alt to play with friends, or just run the dungeon with them to help them finish a quest, or get gear.

Gear yes, experience, no.

If you are going to use the “intended vision” argument, you must understand if the Dev do decides to leave dungeon boosting in and have it exist along with traditional leveling, then that’s their intended vision.

I’l say this though, i will suggest a shorter AFK timer, where instead of 5 or more minutes until they log out, it should be 2 minutes in total. I do agree it will create more active participants in practically everything to prevent a lot of AFKers. I do agree that’s a problem. (With the exception of RP’s)

Asking a high level to run you though a dungeon, along it’s done legit, isn’t.

Naw, i leveled 2 characters and enjoyed the second one more than the first.

Boosting isnt classic. Its a lazy generation of gamers.

Edit: Well not entirely. I suppose people that have played this game on repeat for 10+ yrs of private servers might just see it as a hassle at this point. Mostly its just lazy people though.
