Do pl; really not want cata? I dont egt it

I love this false narrative people try to put out there… WoW lost TONS of subs before Cata was even announced. ICC was a guild killer. They had to add a buff to try and bring people back, and then put out some dumb red dragon to give people easy gear. The sub bleeding started before Cata was ever mentioned. Just stop. People had unsubbed because of ICC… and Cata was the highest launched Xpac ever at the time it came out. JFC literally all this info is public knowledge and ya’ll out here spreading lies.

*Edit: Damnit I just realized this was Abomb. Got got by the lying troll again.

No Wrath had the most hype. Wrath was the pinnacle of WoW. It was during Wrath it was being talked about the most.

Cata brought in a lot of massive game changes that weren’t well received.

Not in a major way though where it effected the game. Cata did a lot of big things wrong and it shows. We can look back at history and objectively call them mistakes.

They should of stopped making expansions with Cata as it was the beginning of the end.

Number of copies of World of Warcraft expansion packs sold on the 1st day worldwide from 2007 to 2020: (Number in millions of copies)
TBC: 2.4
WOTLK: 2.8
Cata: 3.3
MoP 2.7
WoD 3.3
Legion 3.3
BFA 3.4
Shadowlands 3.7

Soooo, technically Cata, WoD, Legion, BFA, and Shadowlands all had “more hype” than Wrath. But keep LYING.

This is factually wrong.

Irrelevant metric to the conversation. Not sure why you are bringing this up.

TBC into Wrath is where there was the most hype. It’s when commercial were being aired. Mr. T, Shatner etc… Southpark episode. The hype was real back then and everyone was talking about WoW. That died in Cata. The soul of WoW was now gone.

Cata is the start of Retail and Retail isn’t WoW. It’s a different game.

WotLK was the last WoW expansion, Cata was a mistake and they should of ended it there. There is a reason why Retail has flopped and can’t be fixed. There needs to be an end for something to be good. They should of started WoW 2 many expansions ago.

Classic + is the future of WoW.

You’re selectively quoting me and not addressing my post. You claimed wow grew until it lost subs in Cata. That’s incorrect. There was no growth in wrath. After the small bump with the wrath pre-patch wrath subs flat lined until a small bump with the cata pre-patch.

There were so many new players in wrath that it was noticeable. It didn’t affect the game because wrath was so easy. Every one who played the game knew that and that’s why we called them wrath babies. If you don’t know what wrath babies are then you either didn’t pay attention, didn’t play wrath, or are lying to push your agenda.

That’s not objective. It’s your subjective opinion. Even things like lfr is subjective. Some liked it, some didn’t care, and some hated it. I never understood the lfr hate. I was in a good guild and never used lfr, but I didn’t care if other people used it. Very few of the people I played with used lfr and then, only with some of their alts. On their mains they did regular guild runs.

I will Stay in Vanilla / TBC / Wrath forever.

It was a mistake to not have TBC Era servers and it will be a mistake if there are no Wrath Era servers

Wrong. I guess we just aren’t going to be able to agree. So good day.

Wrong. We can factually look at Cata and realize the massive mistakes they made that turned off a large majority of the community. When we have Ion saying in an interview many feel that Cata was the beginning of the end. He isn’t saying that to be subjective or spouting nonsense. The lead Dev is saying that because he realizes that Cata got things wrong and it was hated on a big level. These are facts. FACTS!

Cata was the worst expansion released at that time. It just factually was. I don’t have to convince you though. You either understand or you don’t.

If they do Cata Classic it won’t be well received. It’s just not part of Classic Era.

Blizzard released official sub numbers until at least WoD. I think WoD is when they stopped releasing sub numbers. Wrath flat lined until the small bump with the cata pre-patch. That’s the objective fact and you can still find those official blizzard numbers on the internet. Do a search.

The large majority, 83%, 10 million players, played all of cata into MoP. Only a small minority, 17%, 2 million, quit during cata. 10 million players thought cata was good enough to pay $15 a month for two years. That’s the fact. That’s what the data tells us. You can still find that data on the internet. Do a search and you’ll see you’re wrong.

doesn’t help that wrath didn’t release in china until nearly cata

People get so mad when I bring this up in retail because of how beloved Legion is; but World of Worldquests was never good game design

For the people firmly against Cata, what you need to do is rewind the clock and review the people that were firmly against Classic, TBC, and WotLK. Read those posts. Then say, hey, that’s me with Cata. You are just those guys now. A negative take has existed for them all. Welcome to the side of resistance to what other people like and may want.

A real simple solution is in the cards here. Don’t like Cata and Cata comes? Duce out. If Cata comes and you like it then continue to play. It is really that simple. To crusade for or against this is just silly. By this time in the process it either is or isn’t happening. No way in hell whatever they have in the works is suddenly getting its rug pulled out from under it or suddenly shoehorned in. Even more so based upon the comments in this forum.

Hard disagree. For me, cata holy power is the peak Paladin experience.

I do not want Cata. If they make it but keep Wrath servers then fine, I’ll just stay on a Wrath server. If they change Wrath servers to Cata like they changed TBC servers to Wrath then I’ll go back to Vanilla classic. For me “classic” stops at Wrath.

And what spec did you play? I’ma assume not Ret, because for Ret it was 100% donkey-butt. So bad I had to double euphemism the word.

by that logic TBC wasnt classic at all yet you are okay with that and WotLK which also is nothing like classic…hmmmm
