Do pl; really not want cata? I dont egt it

nah i wont be play it . its a caster expac until the end when rogues take over and was the beginning of the end of wow

You are correct… Cata is better than retail.

They would have to change so much to make classic worthwhile for me, it would basically be wrath/cata/mop level changes, I DESPISE vanilla wow

Hunters, Ferals, Rogues, and DKs are all good starting in S9, as long as we get the 4.3.4 balancing patch.

Says the people screeching about classic + lol

Wow is still going strong and its in a great state. DF is a very good expansion. HC is out, wrath is packed with ICC out.

Of course cata is more like wotlk than dragonflight, it would be stupid to have a conversation about the difference of 6 expansions being greater than 1.

and yet you specifically said:

which you agree is a stupid conversation point to make. so why do people who hate cata keep trying to bring it up as if they are the same games?

what level of stupidity are you on?

ill give you a hint: if the word when wasn’t there, you’d have a point, and even then it would be based on assuming things for no constructive reasoning.

In retail my human prances around like a Panda and my cheap shot makes a sound like a wings flapping. This madness didnt start until Legion.

That’s a lot considering WoW had never lost any subs until then. WoW went from growing and the mega MMO that everyone talked about. Too what is this becoming and players quitting for the first time. It’s not the same game anymore.

Keep in mind some players started in Cata for the first time replenishing numbers. So a lot more than 2 million die hard WoW players quit. WoW was shedding a lot of players all through Cata.

I think people really don’t understand the damage Cata did at that time. It changed WoW forever and why many view it as the beginning of the end. Which Blizz has acknowledged and Ion has stated in an interview.

So Wrath is just a waiting room for ya? Well I do hope you guys get a Cata classic. However I have a feeling they might not consider doing that because for them Cata ain’t “Classic” enough. It’s WoW 2.0 and the start of retail WoW.

It’s not every player, but there seems to be a sizable (and growing) population players who were super hyped for WotLK but now remember TBC as being a more fun experience after getting to hammer both expansions back-to-back.

If Cata doesn’t die on release (given many people plan to quit after ICC), I’m sure a lot of players will come to realize that Cata was actually a really good expansion and perhaps even better than WotLK.

Officially Wrath & TBC we’re the two expansions to Vanilla… The developers coined them the classic trilogy.

But in truth TBC was the only real vanilla expansion and really was exactly that. It pioneered many of the systems and features that became popular in every WoW game going forward. The game was really designed well as a dark fantasy to explore vs the more colorful vanilla flavor.

Wrath was just this epic finally but it also was the start to some anticipated changes that many classic players hated. That’s why TBC was looked at so fondly and why Wrath has many people who hate it now.

They added MoP things to Wrath (collections) and said we wouldn’t be in ICC for 8 months, there’s a pretty good chance cata is next, its also the “easy” path. Closer we get to retail less work it is for them to make.

Vanilla, Wrath, Cata and MoP are really the only “populated” pservers. There’s a few TBC every now and then, but those have servers with populations that are steady.

I agree. Wrath is the end of the Arthas storyline which was more important in original WoW when many players were fresh from Warcraft 3, and Wrath is also the end of the old Azeroth and many old systems.

But too many players can’t disconnect this “ending” of Classic from the idea of what’s good and what’s not. It’s not as if Vanilla → Wrath was 100% perfection and none of it could be improved on, and it’s not like expansions after Wrath were terrible.

Personally, I think with the way so many people play Wrath with all the min-maxing, raid logging, and focus on parses, future expansions like Cata, MoP, and Legion would be even more fun to most of these players. It’s just unfortunate that many won’t give it a shot because Wrath is “the end.”

that’s TBC. Cata is WoW 4.0

That’s what I was thinking, but had I posted this, I’d probably be flag spammed and censored off the forum again.

That happened in wrath. There was a small bump with the wrath prepatch, then wrath flatlined for all of wrath until the small bump with the Cata prepatch. There’s many possible reasons why Cata lost subs. Burn out from those who had played the game for 6 years and the ending of the original main wow story line are two likely reasons Cata lost subs.

That also happened in wrath. So many new players started in wrath that we had a name for them, Wrath Babies. Yet with all those new players enough long time players quit that the sub numbers flat lined through all of wrath.

I want cata, best expansion imo, peak pvp. But they should release it with nerfed heroic dungeons. Those dungeons made alooot of people quit back in the day. People were too used to breezing through wrath dungeons.

Nobody will admit it though. They’ll blame changing the old world, talents, transmog and other crap but the real reason a lot of people quit was because endgame pve got waaaaay harder in cata.
