No i9 did a small mininterview with a few citizens of orgreimmer today and hearsd what they had to say. I already unsubbed Cata is pretty much retail WoW. Cata has more in common with retail than it does with Vanilla Classic. Don’t say RBG titles are anything similar to the old system, cuz they are not. Same titles, different way of getting them.

The people that make the most noise will be firmly against it because it is the nature of the internet to be vocal when you are either mad or in opposition to something and less so when you are for or care less about something.
I will be up front and say the vast majority probably really don’t care MUCH one way or the other. Then you have some people that absolutely love Cata that will want it and some people that absolutely hate it and will oppose the hell out of it every step of the way.
I don’t really care about Cata, probably won’t play it. Honestly, thinking back, I haven’t really enjoyed TBC or WotLK as much as I enjoyed Vanilla, but I already accomplished everything I wanted in Vanilla so there’s no point in playing Era. People always say the “flying didn’t kill world PvP”, but it absolutely 100% did and that’s why everyone went to the megaservers.
Anyway, I don’t like the changes they make to Hunter in Cataclysm, and I don’t like the raids, so it seems like a good time to get out.

people were told they shouldn’t like cata due to some various superficial reasons like LFR, the Dragonsoul content drought, changes to the talent tree, and destruction of the old world, so they never gave it a chance of their own
the only thing Cata has in common with Dragonflight is that Dragonflight still uses the Cataclysm world

Which is my point exactly. That world is not the Classic one. The play style, the talents, spells and abilities. All modeled around Cata and beyond. None of that is Classic at all.

I do play retail way more than you do. Thats why I know that Cata is what set retail on the path that is on right now. Up until Wrath, things were going great. All downhill from there. Cata brought back the BG PvP titles. And they have been in game ever since. They should have come up with a new naming system. Not just brought back in the old titles from original Vanilla back into the game.
100% of retail now is all because of Cata. battlepets? yea. Thats not a Wrath thing. hey what expac did that come in? You tell me? is it still in game right now? Oh it is? And what expac did that come in? Cata? Okay. And is it still in game now?
Hey when was LFR added? Certainly not in Cata. According to you we are not suffering the stuff that came from Cata… so tell me. What expac did that feature that gives the crappiest version of raid gear possible come in? Oh Cata AGAIN? And we still have it now? Oh boy. But according to YOU we are not playing the Cata version of WoW right now…
Want another great feature that Cata added in that everyone LOVES so much and zero people ever complain about ever? Phasing, a form of sharding and it caused you to not be able to interact with people within your own group even. Great huh? So no wonder why Blizzard decided to only give that feature to non RP realms as they claimed it would ruin their questing experience. And no… Not the same as layering.
They had limited sharding in Wrath, but you could still interact with players within your group as they were all able to phase in with you… but Cata put a stop to that. You got separated. Layering is very different and was added in Shadowlands and actually works 10x better than sharding does. You people always get the terms confused and use them interchangeably on the forums here. Layering is on a much more massive scale than Sharding. Blizz thinks people love those features so much that they put them into HC WoW and it is getting people killed as they phase out of their group and end up alone vs a group of NPCs that they used to be in a group against.

The majority of the player base doesn’t want this crappy expansion to come out.
Cata is what caused everyone to begin asking for Classic servers in the first place. Back in old Wrath, you didn’t want to play Wrath or TBC, then you just didn’t buy them and you wouldn’t play them. But as soon as Cata launched, it changed that entire old world and also if you had your account locked at vanilla only, the made it in that expac to where you HAD to interact with the other players in the other expacs… so Cata is the expac where Classic died.
I quite obviously have been playing. At least I know what I am talking about. This Cata lover huntard poster up here has next to none of their Cata content done during Cata even. The vast majority of anything they have ever done regarding Cata was done well over 2 full expacs later.
We have like what… 5 of you back to back saying that you want Cata? I’m telling you. Wath the subs drop off like flies before Cata is over. And… watch World of WarCraft DIE… for the second and this time, the final time. I highly doubt WoW can handle another blow like this crap again. Yea I’m out. Cata is the first exapc where the original Blizzard team had left and then begun the merger.
WoTLK was a Blizzard creation… Cata…that’s not made by Blizzard. Cata drops… soon after the hype for a new expac comes out… WoW will die for the second and this time the final time. Cant take two massive blows like this. Cata = the end of Blizzard. Think I’m making this up? Na… Just be patient Time will prove me right.
There will come a day when all you people are going to wish so desperately that you had never asked for Cata and that you just had your Wrath back. But… na. had to ruin it. Then MOP is coming next and will ruin that.

Wrath forever and Classic + expansions.
It’s really not very odd. Cata when it launched was the worst expansion to date. It was the first time WoW lost subs and started it’s decline. It changed the game forever, the zones, class design and restrictive gameplay.
Most view Cata as the beginning of the end and it’s the start of Retail. I don’t believe we should make Retail expansions Classic. I feel for a lot of players their Classic journey end in Wrath and we would like Classic Era to continue on for Vanilla - Wrath.
Of course until we get brand new Classic adventures with a new expansion and Classic + which is the future of WoW.
