Why? I played a prot/ret back in cata and holy power wasn’t so bad. It’s basically combo points but the points are on the paladin rather than the target. Ret paladins need more structure, in wrath playing a ret pally is just whack a mole, it’s kind of fun but pretty mindless.
Ret is S tier in pvp in cata, for the first time ever. I do play Holy, though, you are right. But i also LOVE Rets as partners in pvp on my rogue and Hunter alts. WoG offheals are insane in cata, and they bring such insane utility - a little OP tbh.
But Ret has evolved into one of the best pvp classes in Cata on pserver (the cata pserver pvp scene is big these days, and growing- meta has evolved a lot). I just LOVE paladins in cata, its my favorite iteration.

WoW pvp was never good. Stupid as it was, it was best in Vanilla, despite chain CC. Arena ruined WoW pvp permanently, it never recovered. Cata pve was such hot garbage I unsubbed during the first patch cycle.

This isnt 2011 anymore. The meta is wayyy different these days. Its why ive been playing cata hpal for the past 10 years on 4.3 pservers. Insanely fun.

The thing that confuses me the most is when people claim cata is like draonflight. I’d kill for that lol. Imagine if that were true? I’d be lapping up some DF right now and happy as a clam! My guess is they havent played Cata or the haven’t played DF, or just being obtuse

Issue is that most Wrath babies started in Wrath and dropped of during Cata because it was too hard. So they have never seen anything past it and for them Wow has never changed since Cata. It has been Cata for 13 years.
They will also not admit its the difficulty because ego

Good point. That does make sense and might explain it. Man, i just can’t wait for Cata to come out and people to get their minds blown by how amazingly well it aged. This forum is going to 180 over night.

Cata is where things started to go wrong. Cata is when each class got gimmicks that made them less fun to play. Like Chakra for holy priests, the idea that having fewer abilities available was fun, the idea that random limitations were fun, those were just bad ideas. Once Cata released, I had no more need for dual spec because holy priest healing was so very very unfun.

You are delusional if you think they are less fun to play. How is spamming mutilate fun or idk spamming Holy light. Most Wrath specs are very basic one or two button rotation and Cata went ahead and changed them to be somewhat interesting and engaging. You might not like some changes but it doesn’t make them objectively less fun lol

Fun is subjective. I completely disagree with your opinion on class design, including Holy Priests. Different strokes for different folks i suppose.

I don’t think everyone wants to stay in Wrath forever. We’ve got 9 months on the ICC tier until Cata Classic drops. That should be long enough to clear ICC for people that are interested.
I think the main thing is that there is genuinely less interest in Cataclysm in general. I’ll probably switch to SoD when it comes out (and possibly check out the new Retail xpac to see if it can rekindle my interest in Retail).

Bro thats just Abomb and like 2 other dudes on their 15 accounts. The “petition to keep wrath era” thread only has 152 replies, and half of them are trolling against it. Like I said in that thread… I think some of you are disillusioned and think a lot more people want Wrath Era than actually do.
