I’m surprised that this is such a huge issue considering it was stated in the patch notes, you have to confirm twice AND you can preview the resultant item.
That would require the developers to not actively hate their own playerbase.

And when people continue to ignore the provided information, then what? All you have to do is hover over the item preview to see this. But people are too lazy to do even that much.
I feel bad because they want me to downgrade my 252 items i had to earn to make tier items… Do you think we could have a pity party for me too?
They say there’s a video of a streamer that did do this but I haven’t found it. Can anyone give a link?
I think you’re talking about the transmog set for each class.
The tier set is the 5 pieces with the bonus.
I thought you were saying that all raid gear is the tier set because it’s the gear that drops for this raid tier - which could be true I guess but I’ve never heard everything in the raid loot tables referred to as the tier set.
And people will see an item named like the tier pieces, out of the thing that’s supposed to give tier pieces - so it’s easy to see what people would think they’re getting a tier piece.
Sure the bonus isn’t shown, but new players won’t really know the difference.
New and casual players likely don’t read patch notes or blue posts.
The item they see will have the same naming convention as the actual tier pieces. So I can see why people would think they’re getting a tier item when you consider how many people have been vocal about the catalyst releasing so that people can finally start getting the bonuses.
I think the fact that the catalyst could even create pieces for non tier slots was something that hadn’t been communicated until the last minute as well.
As a new player - the boots I would be getting are called “Godstalker’s…”. Looks like tier. Out of the thing that’s supposed to allow us to make tier items.
It makes sense if you see the other picture, but if they didn’t have an item in that slot to put in to compare, then they only had the name of the item they’re getting and the function of the catalyst.
Funny too- a lot of people knew this was setup and worded poorly ahead of time.
Because to Blizz the entire set is the raid tier gear . To a lot of players only the items that give the bonuses is tier .
The right way to go about it is how Blizz the company that makes it goes by .
Also as you can see from the post you responded to I showed an example of what will and will not give the bonuses .

Right, but if they only had wrists they wouldn’t have seen what an actual tier item looked like.
The entire transmog set isn’t tier gear to Blizzard. Blizzard has had transmog sets each patch and yet for BfA and the beginning of SL announced that tier gear was going away - then announced it was coming back in 9.2.
If they considered the transmog set and the tier set to be the same, then why would they say that tier sets were going/coming? Because the tier set is composed of the pieces that give the bonus.
This isn’t difficult to understand. That’s why so many people saw this confusion coming for newer players a mile away.
You can act like a PhD wondering why people don’t just “get” astrophysics all because it’s plain and simple for you - but other people can relate to undergrads struggling with a game built on multiple systems with poorly worded communications and UI.
Go look at Adventure Guide → Loot → Item Sets
if they put wrist in on the left it would show the raid version on the right and mousing over the raid version would of showed what they would become .
Any item that goes into the catalyst will show an image of the item and what changes will occur .
How is having a warning pop up and ask you "Are you sure " with a 6 second timer before you can accept so a player can can double check and the timer doesn’t mean once it goes to 0 you must make up your mind and accept that instant.
They literally made the whole thing dummy proof . Any more dummy proof they may as well pop stuff into peoples mail the moment they log their characters into the game.

Except they clearly didn’t. Not only did they not because people are making the mistake this week- but people also called this out all last week because of how poorly the whole thing was executed.
You can’t say it’s dummy proof, when people don’t understand the system and players warned blizzard about the confusion well in advance.
If new people are having a problem with it , they sure in the hell aren’t coming to GD about it
they are going to the CS and Bug forums and there around 4 threads regarding the Catalyst in both those forums all with 10 or less responses.
I think it is a bigger problem in GD because it makes a better troll subject then it does an actual problem .
No, It’s not actually. It shows you the item! If you said yes to an item with out any set bonus, you will get an item without a set bonus.
Except that it is - based on reality. Because people have actually made the mistake.

The only way an item can convert to a tier bonus item is if it is from the same slot .
Bonuses will only go on set items and that was made perfectly clear before the Catalyst opened.
What did people think would happen ? Put a wrist in the catalyst and
It’s now a chest piece .
THis whole thing is a bigger GD issue because it makes for good trolling then actually being a problem .

That doesn’t mean it’s easy to see why, hence “no, it not”.
People have made this mistake through no one’s fault but their own. Next time, maybe they’ll pay a little more attention to what their doing.
I have to agree that it is easy. Many people saw this coming ahead of time.
If you look in gd, you’ll see that others have posted their concern for exactly this happening. If that many people saw it coming, then I think it’s literally easy to see why it’s happening now.
