DO NOT upgrade your belt to tier set

Sorry sir. It’s very easy to do.

They could have clarified way better.

Like someone else mentioned, they marketed the catalyst to make tier pieces so that players could play catch up with their bonuses.

Then at the last minute they add a bunch of other pieces into the game and give them the same labels as the tier pieces.

It’s fair for newer players to see a piece in the catalyst and think it would be part of the bonus.

So all raid gear is the tier set for a given patch?

This is avoided by reading end of story. This isn’t about judgement but accountability of the player to pay attention. It’s not cruel to ask people to accept responsibility it’s just called being a human being.

I have sympathy for their mistake because we have all been there, however it’s not the fault of Blizzard.

If every piece of gear in the raid matches the tier set. If every belt that can drop for you as a dh are the dh tier set belt appearance, then yes, if not no.

What do you mean? There are multiple belts that drop for me as a dh this raid tier from the raid instance.

You’re saying they’re all tier? That’s a pretty huge generality and no one refers to tier that way. People only talk (and complain) about tier in regards to the 5 pieces with the set bonus. The rest of the raid gear is just either random raid gear and/ or part of other transmog sets.

It’s not some 9000iq galaxy brain concept.

Go look at the 9.2 tier set reveal pictures everything in the picture is your tier set (including boots/belt/wrists).

If there are multiple pieces with the same appearance as the dh belt (they were called off pieces) that was so other classes (incase of dh, leather) could wear the appearance of the dh set, the FULL set… including boots/belt/wrists.

But it is. They don’t give enough information in the game, players shouldn’t be expected to read outside of the game to know what something does

Unless you were born without eyes everything you need to know is in game regarding the CC.

That warning concept would be totally appropriate for when you go to re-subscribe, as well! “Are you REALLY sure you want to subject yourself to this?”

Thinking of it too simply, not every player has the experience and knowledge. Someone who’s newer has probably heard people talk about Catalyst in the preceeding weeks and assume that the only thing it does is create tier. That is what their intuition would tell them based on their in-game experiences.

Someone who doesn’t read the forums or feels like they don’t need to go outside the game to know what is in the game could easily misread what all of this does, especially considering many people don’t raid, even LFR so they may not even be aware that tier is in 5 slots only. The game does nothing to tell the player that this is the case, specifically. That’s why it is unintuitive

So your example is some “ethereal being out in the void that never does anything with anybody and is incapable of using google or the forums”?

And the game literally tells you that the piece will have a bonus on it. The lack of critical thinking doesn’t deserve to be rewarded.

So it’s an rng chance sort of deal?

You’re thinking of it too simply and excusing unintuitive design, that’s all. This is a barrier of entry for players who lack the experience and knowledge, which is an unfortunate thing, because we should all want the game to be inclusive and a good experience for all players. After all, it’s a game we play for fun, not to be disappointed. At any rate, just calling someone dumb or lazy for failing to understand a system inside the game itself, which doesn’t do a good job of explaining what it does, is very simple and exclusionary thinking.

Becomes easier to comprehend when you realize some people don’t think they need to read about the game and that all necessary information will be provided in said game.

Crazy, right?

It’s unintuitive if you can’t read or lack the basic understandings of how the internet works.

It’s 2022 we don’t have to wait 6 fortnights for information anymore.

It’s even posted on the launcher. Jesus.

You shouldn’t have to go outside the game to know how something inside the game works.

Some people still have an icon that just launches wow and skips opening the bent tab at all

You don’t have to. All you have to do is read the quest text and look at the preview window.

You don’t.

Let’s see. THe catalyst lets you see if the item will become tier or not

Also has a pop up window that asks if you are sure with a 6 second time before you can accept

Sounds like necessary information in game to me

Again, players who are not familiar with how tier slots work are not aware of how this system works. They have heard players talk about the Creation Catalyst creating set bonuses and assume that this is the only thing that it does, as shown by several topics of people feeling cheated and or left out of the loop.

This is the only point I have argued in the entire topic, but every reply to it has come from very simple thinking.
