This would solve so many forum troll problems.
Forum alt anonymity is the worst thing that happened to these forums, and would be largely solved by making all players characters visible, regardless of the toon they post on.
Tip the first domino. Bring forum trolls out into the light.

There’s a good reason they backed off from using RealID’s for forum posting, and it’s because a handful of alts are not an issue compared to how vindictive way too many of you are.
There’s quite a difference between posting on your main, and posting with your real name.
I see more trolling from “main characters” than I see trolling from “alts”.
Feel free to post using your Classic main.
I prefer posting on the toon I have always used for forum posting, even if I haven’t touched it or the version of the game it’s from in 4 years.
So losers on this forum like Frosstfire stop posting.
If this happened there would only be like 5 people on the forums. 99% of posts are from the same people with multiple sockpuppets. 1 or 2 people run the entire forums.

Low level, low post count alts tend to be put on my forum ignore list.
People pretending to be someone they are not, anonymously posting on an RPG forum… the audacity.
The internet is a very personal space where serious personal discussion is supposed to take place. Other sites like Twitter and Facebook have eliminated this sock puppetry, why shouldn’t we expect the same on a much more serious place.
An RPG classic discussion board is holy ground.

Maybe Blizzard should have everyone sign a social contract that explains in legalese that they understand that some shenanigans are supposed to take place. Heck blizzard and their employees may take part in this shenanigans.
But while they expect some shenanigans if said shenanigans violate very specific standards they are in violation of the code of shenanigans.
Playing within the shenanigans standards is acceptable. It might be annoying but being annoying isn’t against forbidden shenanigans unless it violates the shenanigan standard.
That is why blizzard has created tools for players to avoid such shenanigans. So if shenanigans bothers you I would avoid gnome mages.
