Dislike Button

Because WoW players are the most toxic, hateful group of gamers in the world.

I'm guessing World of Warcraft is the only online video game you have ever played otherwise you wouldn't have said this lol

...You can only speak for yourself.

Except I am speaking the truth, why do you think we were the only forum (before the new overwatch style forums) to have it removed while everyone else got to keep it?

Like it or not, it's fact.

Maybe we'd be far more polite and such if the MVP's and Wow Dev teams weren't such Snarky condescending !@#$% all the time?

"You think you want it. But you don't."

"Don't you have phones?"

These are not forum user quotes. These are Blizzard employees.

When Feedback is not valued here. Yeah people get pissed. If you talk down to us people get pissed. Also I've never seen the Wow Players here demand censorship of an ^-* before.
The downvote button was abused by members of the forum to the point that even a difference of option would be a buried post.

It got ugly so I for one was glad they got rid of it.

Though there has been the odd occasion now I could do with a big fat downvote.

Do people have spines anymore? So many easily hurt people around these corporations, almost as if they're thinly veiled PR workers...

That's odd.

Seems like the forums got more toxic when it was impossible to bury trolls & bad feedback.

It was never a problem until Blizzard made it so.
selective memory much?

Sure, if you ignore the reason specifically given by Blizzard. That being that removing the dislike is supposed to lead into more engaging discussion. How's that working out?

Because the WoW community is far too toxic to use it responsibly.

How exactly do you use a dislike button responsibly?

If you dislike a comment you hit the button, there is no way to use it responsibly or abuse it, the blue saying that said we were "abusing" the dislike button because we were disliking comments we didnt like instead of using it as a pseudo report button was one of the most idiotic things i have ever seen a Blizzard employee say, right up there with blink is a heal.

I used to just leave a dislike to posts and comments I disliked and disagreed with. Since that was taken away now I just insult them in my reply and question their sexual orientation.

and FFXIV are all up there with WoW.

Everyday I see posts about how "friendly" their community is though.

Everything's friendly if you play solo and never do anything, I suppose though.
I wish they had one right now. I'd be trolling the diablo haters so hard their fingers would get tired from repeatedly pushing the dislike button lol.

The dislike button was "abused" by people who were using it to indicate they disliked a post.

Normally one would assume that a "difference of opinion" would be exactly what a "dislike" button was intended to indicate.

"Buried posts" were easy to read, and people went out of their way to read them to see if they agreed.

So you really think the forums have improved since the elimination of downvoting? Seriously? Lawl.

The Diablo 3 forum still has a dislike button. Why not WoW?

Because the wow forums are an awful toxic cesspit that even the likes of the mmo champion boards and an unmoderated Asmongold Twitch chat couldn't rival.

No /thread, sorry. If you actually watch Asmon he puts an immaculate amount of consideration for moderating his content. He does not allow racial slurs or other ToS violations in his stream.

This was just a poor excuse to take shots at an overrated streamer you don't like for whatever reason.

Because the WoW forum users would use it as a Disagree button instead of a Bad Post button like it was intended to be.

That was the exact problem.

That person gets it!

Like a person could write a well thought out post, for or against, about LFR. The post could be perfect, in every way (no, I'm not talking about posts of mine because I am THE WORST!) but people would dislike it A LOT who disagreed. Someone would say, "Well, I DO(or DON'T) like LFR, so I must dislike every post in this thread of a different opinion!"

So it ended up not being used in the way it was intended. The intended use was for goobers who come to the forums and post "ASMAHGHOULD!", something or other.

Hey look you can just replace three words. As this is entirely about opinion.

Exactly!

People want proof of that? Then look at the last reddit AMA with Ion.

The WoW community abused it.

Then it should have said bad post, the buttons say like, dislike. If I didn't like something I hit dislike. I wasn't aware that I was supposed to hit dislike if it was a bad post. I always figured that's what the report button was for.
Much like on youtube you don't like a video you can either hit dislike or stay neutral and say nothing. It's not rocket science, and just because people hit dislike doesn't mean they are toxic. Just like people disagreeing with you doesn't mean they're toxic.
People have the right to think what they want and disagree with each other. If we become an echo chamber and only allow others to think what we want them to think, then we're the toxic ones.

Please bring back the dislike button. The forums were better when we could dislike a post into oblivion.

They canā€™t. We cannot have peoples feelings hurt now can we?

If they simply remove the auto-hide post after X dislikes feature then it couldnā€™t possibly be abused.

So shreds, you just going to keep necro-ing the oldest forum posts you can find huh? Pretty sure constant necros is against TOS

Because if you thought the downvoting was bad for the night fae fairy suit on YouTube or the D:I trailer lol

Basically weā€™d all be negative bombed into oblivion

If they lock likes / dislikes to bnet accounts to prevent people from alt-bombing, then the auto-hide is useful. If so many people of the community dislike what you have to say that it gets hidden, then maybe the problem isnā€™t the community.

It would allow Blizz to quickly determine how popular an topic is and allow the community to, in some way, self-police against obvious trolls. Less work on Blizzā€™s end.

ā€¦ but of course, as others have said, we canā€™t have a social platform where peopleā€™s feelers get hurt. Positive feelings only people!
