Dislike Button

Were you here when they came around with Real ID? I don't think Blizzard would touch forum identity with a ten-foot pole ever again.

I did say "or something" for a reason haha. Real ID clearly wasn't the answer, but my point still stands. Half the hostile/borderline obscene stuff that gets posted on this forum between players would disappear if they couldn't hide behind various characters.

The other side of that is moderation, which doesn't seem to happen enough. I know the system works, I had a 3d vacay a couple of weeks ago because someone was "offended" by my strictly-fictional-faction-war-rhetoric. Fun Fun. But it still seems to happen far less than it should. Maybe their machine learning features will get better.

...You can only speak for yourself.

Except I am speaking the truth, why do you think we were the only forum (before the new overwatch style forums) to have it removed while everyone else got to keep it?

Like it or not, it's fact.
Nothing is fact.

Because the WoW forum users would use it as a Disagree button instead of a Bad Post button like it was intended to be.

So what exactly is the difference? Surely the up vote is the same as a like or agree, why shouldn't the down vote indicate dislike or disagree?
If Blizzcon was any indication, Blizzard clearly doesn't care about Diablo anyway lmao

Because WoW players are the most toxic, hateful group of gamers in the world.
League of Legends, Dota 2, Call of Duty etc WoW isn't even close to "Toxic, hateful gameers" Just because we're angry over a game we love going the wrong way and voicing our dissatisfaction over it doesn't mean we're toxic or hateful.

Exactly!

People want proof of that? Then look at the last reddit AMA with Ion.

The WoW community abused it.

Ion was still being Ion though...which isn't really a good thing 9 times out of 10. They need to get someone else to speak in his place.

Don't worry after Blizzcon ends diablo won't have a downvote button anymore.

Apparently they have sway in youtube down votes as well.

More like you will eat tons of downvotes just for posting.

Especially when they were labeled "like" and "dislike"...

The excuse that it wasn't meant to be used like that was complete BS. We have actual post reporting options, but too many of blizzards "great ideas" were being disliked into oblivion so they had to stop that. Same reason blue posts couldn't be liked/disliked. THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

You're a MVP, admit it, it wasn't half this bad back in like 05

LOL!!! Have you seen the Diablo forums or the comments on the trailer??? Take your blinders off wow is really not that bad, if your running into terrible people all the time maybe it’s a you thing.
I didnt even know it was gone until last week. But in short id imagine a !@#$%^-*!@ of downvotes would plague people even for well intended or joking posts

LoL's community says hi.
Seriously their community is a whole lot toxic then WoW's. I mean a whole lot!

That's odd.

Seems like the forums got more toxic when it was impossible to bury trolls & bad feedback.

It was never a problem until Blizzard made it so.

Responsibly? it's a button. You hit dislike if you dislike the post. What's so irresponsible about that?
And saying that some posts got "downvoted into oblivion" is not an abuse of the button. It's literally the opinions of the majority being expressed in the upvote/downvote feature, that's all. That's not irresponsible.

It's just your opinion. Like it or not. The reason these forums are full of toxic trolls is because blizzard encourages them to use these forums for toxic trolling. Doing so distracts readers and deflects from them asking the hard questions that they don't intend to answer.

They removed the downvote button in anticipation of great blowback after the highly unpopular changes upcoming at that point were implemented.

They told us they removed it because trolls who were posting lies and copypasta had their feelings hurt by being downvoted, and once a post was downvoted it was permanently inaccessible and no one would ever read it again. Which was of course a total lie, because everyone who read the forums clicked those posts to read them and see if they agreed.

They also told us that the "dislike" button was never intended to be used for forum posters to indicate dislike for a post. And that we were exploiting it by using it in that way.

The Diablo 3 forum still has a dislike button. Why not WoW?
I broke it.
