In the majority of zones, a low level will find no one to help them.
This is a whine post, and I disagree with it.
no, not at all, its war, war isnt fair. you want fair and balanced pvp, then stick to BG’s and arena.
UM, Din’t this happen in Classic, BC or was it in Wrath I cant remember…
Where you get a negative permanent RED score (for dishonor kills, NPC town vendor/quest givers kills or lowbie kills) that would counter your current honor point, but then was taken away because PvPers started to complain about it?
If I wanted to have a fair fight, I’d play another class, and in arenas.
You can have your revenge when we get marked as assassins. That usually brings half the map into the area.
this
if you ahve warmode on and I feel like trying to kill you, I’m going to try to kill you
if you try to kill me and I kill you, I’m gonna stick around and kill you a few more times.
if you can’t handle warmode, turn it off.
dishonorable kills are a bad idea. have never been a thing except for maybe way back in 2004 beta.
you can opt out of world pvp if you don’t like aspects of it.
it was vanilla and ONLY for killing civilian NPC’s, like inn keepers and some vendors. it was removed cuz it kept people from attacking towns and 1 person in a raid just needed to kill one and everyone got the DK.
Yes. But I’m using his levels for reference as it’s the point of discussion he brought forth. In his case, he absolutely can.
Players who chase low levels and ruin their game experience can get banned even in war mode.
Report him and Blizz will put him on vacation.
Its more effective than losing honor that nobody care.
Turning WM on means you agree to be attacked by anyone, at anytime, regardless of level.
Player base is full of people who can only kill low levels for the most part OP, wasting your time but I agree. In fact I would go a step forward and have them lose conquest as honor points are useless.
I actually like this idea, though maybe not this exact variant of it.
There should absolutely be a penalty for camping low level zones as a max level player, or really anyone outside of the appropriate levels for the zone (read the zone and its quests are gray for the offender). It’s one thing while leveling to find and fight a similarly leveled person, it’s another entirely to basically be told “Nah bro you can’t play the game right now”.
As to what that penalty should be? No idea. gray players are already worth 0 honor, and I don’t think removing honor is the right idea.
The only other idea that comes to mind though is having an “assassin” style flag for older content as well; Marking the player (or players) on the world map, and somehow working it so that the max level/high level player becomes easier for the lower level players to deal with without having to rely on other 120’s coming in to save them. For example the marked player could receive significantly increased damage from players that would reward them with no honor in a zone that they significantly out level, such that the low level players actually pose some risk for them, hell if you make Killing the mark worth a quest of XP (once per day to avoid exploitation) and I’m sure you’ll find low level players WELCOMING high level players to their experience.
“Just turn off warmode LOL” is the most common response to this to which I respond - Remove the PVE bonus’ from warmode and I will. Until then I’ll happily take my +20-40% bonus experience for my alts.
We had dishonorable kills. It was glorious and great fun to see how many you could wrack up. I think Blizzard realized people who enjoy murdering other players-the more helpless the better-actually got a kick out of there now being a numerical value to count that, so they got rid of the system.
The real question is why with pvp being completely optional, anyone spends any time whining about being killed.
If they were both 120 he’d probably complain the the other player had more gear or something and should also be punished.
false, if you want to believe this fake news dont write a long report. its a waste of time
Loll no they won’t. That is the funniest thing I’ve read all day
I think part of that from what I read is also due to people creating and using the levels to grieve high levels by causing them to lose honor. I guess it just proves that people are will be turds when they are given the opportunity LOL.
don’t want to get ganked? turn it off, no reason to punish people that are using warmode as intended.
I don’t believe you.
Even though there are a fair number of poor readers shouting to turn off war mode, I don’t mind entertaining the thought experiment of what kind of active response dissuades gank-coward culture.
Dishonorable kills did nothing whatsoever. And the masses are not wrong when they point out that GCC took an upturn while chasing the most dishonorable status.
I think its because the whole thing is contained in the pvp system. Getting dishonor doesn’t affect anything else in the game. Doing the wrong thing doesn’t jeopardize anything else so why not?
So, Ideally one would want a system that does jeopardize their experience if they abuse it.
How about if someone kills someone else significantly below their level it disables the higher level’s war mode.
Whats that you say? So low levels will just troll higher levels? Maybe so.
Maybe we can do better…
How about if someone kills a lower level, the game just scales them down to below the level of their victim? Feel like knocking down level 20s? Gratz, you are now level 18 for the next hour. 30 Minutes? Dunno. But killing lowbies becomes a pain in the tail feathers and gank-cowards aint about takin on no extra pains. That’s why they are killing lowbies.
But why wait for death? Just go ahead and scale combatants down to the lowest level in any exchange. Want to stomp some 20? That opener lands as a level 20. Fun!
If a deterrent doesn’t affect their game then it isn’t a deterrent. Calling people out. Making a wall of shame, giving accruable dishonor points, these are all just rewards by some other name.
All academic points though.
The devs have already decided that balance is hard and they aren’t going to do it. Warmode is your problem, not theirs. They set up the griefing platform for noble and scum alike and wash their hands on the way out.
It fun to imagine a world where people care. But in this world, there is on and off and none of the desk jobs care.
Sorry.
