Oh, I’m just giving my 2cents on why there’s probably a crack down this week, nothing specifically towards homerjay.
It’s pretty bad when you have to plan on buying fish daily an hour after the botters stop dumping, and knowing when to pump cooked food after their 12h posts delist at 9pm daily.
Also, I’m talking about fish botters dumping on AH on a schedule, not them botting the AH itself.
Understandable. I’ve seen many fishing bot complaints around, so it certainly looks like a priority.
I will accept punishment honestly as a “hey, you didn’t know this, now you do… leave the game for x months to let it sink in” punishment… but a permanent ban is HUGE.
Also, this was fishing in classic wow in tanaris with vendor fish. Not a for-profit gold making class at all. I know the “doesn’t matter” argument makes sense, but there should be considered degrees, and i was only after reducing casting times for fishing dailies, not after messing with the economy etc.

Also, botters are known to use remote desktop to evade detection, so it still doesn’t look good to be using such.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re focusing in on people using such.
RDP tools can be used for good or bad. I don’t like to advocate for a tool as a whole to be banned just because it can be used improperly. Long before the policy update, I used Microsoft’s built in RDP tool to remote in from work (had permission from boss) and camp for the Time Lost Protodrake. Ironically, that’s not how I got the TLPD, but it was part of my camping strategy for it.
Just posting the result (dam that came fast!). They downgraded it to a 6 month ban. For some they would likely be pissed, but I am on cloud 9… I have spent so much time in this account and put so much dedication and investment into it, that knowing it is not gone forever means everything to me.
I appreciate the blue poster here, and all your replies. I appreciate you all informing me of TOS that I was not familiar with ensuring that I won’t get in this bind again.
I’m fine taking a break from wow, but losing it entirely would have been just horrible.
Thank you all…

The problem, and why people are advocating that RDP be blanket banned, is that the programs used no longer have to be resident on the same PC WoW is running on. IMO, Blizzard should make it so WoW immediately exits to desktop if RDP is active (Or grey out the window and lock controls telling the user to disable RDP first).
The problem is, how does Blizzard determine who is using it properly or not? I’m sure they have more compelling reasons, but on the surface, a blanket ban is an easier stance, as opposed to “well, this is ok, but that is not”, and then having to judge who is crossing such a line.

If you have not already done it, change the password to your Battlenet account, maybe even set up a different email for it that has secondary authentication like Gmail. Set up the Blizzard Authenticator on your Bnet account too.
That should ensure nobody without physical access to your phone/device AND who knows the email/password can get on it.
Your brothers will need to ensure they do the same if they want to play. Set up their own Battlenet accounts - one for each adult.
Might as well make sure the lesson reaches all involved so it never happens to them either.
