Disconnected while fishing - with a permanent ban?

I can understand that, clearly not how i was using it though. I was using it to play the game as i can’t sit at my gaming pc while working… and the way they designed fishing it takes a huge time investment to max lvl.

Though If i had any idea blizz would frown on me fishing on my onexplayer, i’d have just decided to give up fishing entirely. Only wanted to do it to speed up the dailies. I already had 300 fishing on my toons before trying to up it to 450. I was fishing for garbage fish in tanaris too… hardly a gold income. Throw away vendor fish…

Again, you’re still assuming it had to do with fishing. You don’t actually know that’s what caused it though.

How you use it is not a consideration. If it breaks the rules, you cannot use it for any reason.

You may have bigger concerns if your work finds out what you are doing…

It’s not as much time as you think, especially since they made each expansion independent of the last. But huge time investment or not, it’s time you must invest while not breaking rules.

That is literally all we have been doing last few days. They were helping me lvl fishing, i had no idea wow would ban you for letting your family member take turns playing your character with you…

Its not a transfer, sale, etc etc… my brothers were just helping me click the bauber as i honestly hate fishing and was trying to power through it.

Seems extreme.

And this account action could be the result of something that happened well before that even. Again, investigations take time.

Accounts have always been limited to one adult and one minor dependant/child. Siblings have never been allowed to share accounts.

Why does that sound… fishy? (no pun intended)

Stick in an appeal but that sounds… strange.

That’s account sharing. That’s against the TOS as well.

If you hate fishing that much, just don’t. You wouldn’t be in this mess.

The email says :

Our team issued this closure only after a careful review of relevant evidence. Our support staff will not overturn these closures and may not respond to appeals.

Does this mean they flat out won’t act on my appeal?

They look at all appeals until such time that they say “No further appeals will be entertained” or something to that degree.

That means they had applies on this account action many times and gave their final answer.

applies? not sure what you mean there.

There is no “many times” here, i’ve never had a single issue with this account for 20 years, never a warning, this is the first time receiving anything from blizz.

This has been against the rules since day one. People have been Suspended or banned for it many times over the years. Account sharing is not allowed.

The one exception is that a parent may allow one minor child on an account in their name. Only one.

Only you are allowed to access an account registered in your name. We don’t recognize the transfer of accounts between individuals. Activities performed on your account are your liability.

You may not share your account or password with anyone, except if you are a parent or guardian, in which case you may permit one minor child to use your account. You may not use your account at the same time, and you are liable for activities conducted by the minor child.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and the use of your user name and password. You are responsible for all uses of your information, even if you don’t authorize them. Security of your account is your responsibility.

I am going to point out, that if your brothers were to do anything on that account such as use a bot to “help” you level fishing, that would certainly be grounds for penalties. Your account could be closed.

Of course, what you were doing when banned is not always what you got in trouble for. Investigations can take weeks or months. Something on the account was detected and finally penalized.

Again, your only option is the appeal ticket.

No, that’s in the e-mail Homer received, not a quote from their appeal. Two different things

Not to be crass but ignorance of the rules is no excuse.

Do they often overturn permanent bans and down scale it after a warning, or are these decisions usually permanent as the email states they are?

Often? I definitely wouldn’t use that word. But it’s always possible, so there’s no harm in putting in an appeal.

You have been with us a very long time, Homerjay - and that may work in your favor simply for having a clean record for so long - but account sharing is still against the rules.

I’m looking at logged in times here. This is either a bot - or sharing, and both break the rules. Either is pretty much as egregious as the other. I realize you are stating you didn’t realize this, but please know it now. If this gets mitigated in any fashion, it is still liable to be lengthy, and you don’t want this recurring in the future.

I’m glad blizzard is trying to clean up fishing bots this week. They’re rampaging on the auction house pumping it on a hard schedule. I can tell people are waking up to fish from their bot farms gathered through the night, to dump when theyre no longer sleeping.

Specifically, the Islefin Dorado supply graph is sus as heck… Just look at the daily 6-10am EST pump schedule.

While I agree with this statement, I don’t think (from the given story, anyway) that we should be including Homerjay in that category. There is a world of difference between trying to powerlevel fishing and botting for profits on the Auction House.

Not that it absolves them of punishment, as both are wrong. But let’s slow down a bit on this.

I know it now, and honestly i don’t care if you suspend me for 6 months of my paid game time. I just want my account back and will consider this a permanent lesson learned…

I was going for “what a long strange trip it’s been” achievement on classic WOTLK which is a huge blow for me being taken out of the game, but considering how much this account means to me, an achievement + break from the game and lost paid game time are nothing in comparison to what is at stake here for me.

I assure you this is a HUGE lesson learned for me. =(

I hope this thread can help inform others before they get in to the situation I was hit with.
