Looks like the tests were only ran for less than a minute. In general we’d want to run these for about 10 minutes or so. In that minute though, we’re seeing large spikes in latency early on in the connection:
ae62.edwkkyai02h.midwest.rr. com - 0 42 42 19 127 894 43
ae62.edwkkyai02h.midwest.rr. com - 0 36 36 24 83 522 37
Just based on that it looks to be an issue routing through the Spectrum network that’s likely causing the disconnect.
Moving your post here so we can look at the issue individually. The high latency that we’re seeing on hops like ae1-br01-eqch2.as57976.net is generally expected due to the security precautions that are taken on our nodes. What we likely should be seeing early on are the 100+ ms spikes on the first hop which would be the computer’s connection to the router\modem. If we’re on a wireless connection, we may want to look into testing wired to see if we can clear that up.
On this character and also my hunter on the same server, have gotten disconnected three times in the last hour. (5:11, Pacific Time zone) Cenarion CIrcle server.
I have wired connection, no problems with my internet on other games. I have DX 11 legacy running, have updated all my drivers and I have a service that scans and lets me know when an update is needed. I have done all the suggestions on this forum, including deleting cache, wtf, and interface. I have cut add ons to a bare 11, and they do not seem to be affecting this, as with them disabled, and when I did the reboot of the system I had to reinstall them all. I saw no difference in performance.
This problem is making the game I love very difficult to play. I get booted from groups because I lag so bad. I was hoping that the driver issue would help, and it did to a certain extent. Now today I keep getting disconnected.
What latency are you seeing ingame on the World meter? We should take a look at a WinMTR test.
The instructions are on this Blizzard Support page:
Once you have the tool open enter the IP number for the server group you play on in the WinMTR box then hit start.
137.221.105.2
(include periods)
Leave it run for 5 minutes or so. Doesn’t matter if you are playing or not. Then use the button that copies Text to your clipboard. Paste that on your thread here.
*You may need to alter or remove any URL addresses to paste on forum. You could also place the test results in a code block:
Open chat box - paste test then right click - “select all”. Should highlight everything. Then press the preformatted text button along top of chat box. Looks like this </>.
I too keep getting disconnected every hour or two for the last couple days. I do not use addons and nothing has changed with my setup at all. In fact, the only thing to change in the last couple days was being invited to and downloading the classic beta. It seems unrelated but ?? Nothing else has changed.
Just to touch on your repeated question “why does the client not reconnect immediately?” it might be an issue with the router itself which would prevent you from reconnecting.
Have you contacted your ISP and asked them to run a check on your modem and give them the information about the spikes? Just because something worked for 12 years doesn’t mean there won’t be issues with it someday.
I want to add one more comment about these disconnects. The timing of the classic beta could very well be coincidence. Something else is happening though that seems too regular to be unrelated. I switched to Overwatch so the disconnects are happening in both games. When I disconnect from the game the launcher is also disconnecting momentarily but seems very quick to recover. The first disconnect while playing OW was at 1:29 am. The next disconnect was at 2:29 am. Although I was tired, I was also very curious so I kept playing and the next disconnect was at 3:29 am. That is three disconnects EXACTLY one hour apart each. Whether that points to something with my system (which shouldn’t have changed recently) or helps narrow down the issue somewhere else, that is too precise an interval to be coincidence. Any thoughts? Thanks.
if your trying to put mtr data in here you have to put a space inbetween every period and com or net. example some of the links will be whatever. com add a space between the period and the com
