should we “value your game time” by putting in raid finder too?
Raid finder is literally a story mode for people who cant commit to a raid schedule.
Raid Finder would radically change the game, so no.
Dual spec doesn’t have to have radical consequences, which it still can that is yet to be determined. It’s antithetical to vanilla’s design. If you value your time, vanilla WoW is not your game.
You also seemingly misunderstand what Anniversary servers are. Blizzard will launch TBC and Wrath Era servers, so while it’s on the vanilla part of the cycle that is very well Classic Era fresh. Also no guarantee these changes won’t, or haven’t already, come to Era.
Conceptually I agree with you. But I’ve always been #QoL-Changes. So anecdotally speaking, it doesn’t impact the core gameplay of Vanilla, but makes it more enjoyable for me to play.
I can literally do everything that DS accomplishes already in Era. I could do it even back in 2005. Again, it’s fly to your trainer, unlearn, relearn, moves your bars around. That’s all DS does, but it does it in a fraction of time.
If your argument is that the core of Vanilla gameplay is to waste our time, then I can understand why you are opposed to me doing something in the game, that I could already do, but now quicker, as a bad thing.
Do you think I don’t gain from dual spec? I main rogue. You cannot PvP as combat PvE specs.
Dual spec and whatever else comes after it will not be a QOL change. It’s a deviation from vanilla’s identity. I’m sure playing vanilla with flying mounts would also make things easier, but we both understand that isn’t what vanilla is about.
Queueing raid finder puts together a raid in a fraction of the time.
Being able to change your talents by running into an inn is not the same thing. This is a gross misrepresentation. If dual spec costed a little more than the price of a single capped respec and you had to be at the trainer, we would be having a different discussion. The way dual spec is CURRENTLY in the game is a RADICAL change to talents.
You can already change specs before you PVP in Era. DS doesn’t change that.
Correct, but I’m not arguing that point as to why we should have DS. I’m arguing that’s the only difference. Quicker forming raids is just a scratch of the surface of the difference that Raid Finder would change.
Disagree. It’s literally the exact same thing. I’ve already changed specs in Era, so I know. The only difference is one is 1 click and the other is a hundred clicks and far more time wasted.
…are you mad that it just costs less gold over time? Is that your argument that it’s not enough of a gold sink? And what makes Vanilla “Vanilla” is that no one should have much gold, so more gold sinks better, less gold sinks mean more players have more gold, and that fundamentally changes Vanilla?
The cost. Most people respeccing already know what they’re doing for their spec, especially at the 50g cap. For most people dual spec means removing the respec cost entirely unless they want to experiment with talents, which also means less variety in talents which is especially boring for PvP.
Except dual spec can have these same down stream effects. You’re refusing to acknowledge them and handwave it as just a QOL change. For PvPers on a PvP server this is a massive change to the game, as now you’re never going to be caught off guard. Removes a massive sense of danger in the world if you’re not playing teh right spec. Sweaty rogues will be able to change between hemo and daggers depending on who they’re fighting without ever having to leave a zone. It’s a massive change. You are dumping your trash in the river for personal gain without thinking of the consequences for others.
That isn’t something to disagree with. That is objective fact. Being able to walk into any rested area and swap your talents is a dramatic change in the game. Trying to handwave it as just saving you time is cope and extremely narrow minded.
Your actions have consequences. Things have weight into vanilla. There is a reason Blizzard designed a new talent system that you need a calculator for after Classic. Being able to flip a switch and completely change your talents while circumventing the penalty cost makes things weightless. The most common complaint for older players towards retail is the death by convenience.
I’m not entirely against the concept of dual spec, especially since the servers are on a quicker timeline. However the way it’s done is extremely lazy and just screams retailization of Classic.
I completely disagree with your notion that there’s nothing to disagree with. I know I’m repeating myself, but it’s the same exact thing, with only two differences.
- Dual Spec is faster to do. You don’t have to get ported to a capitol, then summoned back, and you don’t have to sit there on in the capitol wasting all that time relearning stuff and moving your bars all around
- Dual Spec costs less gold over time.
Those are the only differences. So if you say what makes Vanilla, “Vanilla”, is wasting our time and gold, and that’s what makes it fun, we have fundamentally different ideas of what makes a game fun, and I’m really glad Blizzard is listening to me for Anniversary.
I mean, people have been asking for this for a long time. There’s no reason that a 20-year anniversary edition couldn’t have been more like a copy of Classic 2019 at the very least, it wouldn’t have been that hard. That’s part of the problem, and part of the frustration.
I wanted to like the “season” and was excited last year but ended up sitting out of SoD as I didn’t find it fun. I’ve added my voice frequently for a fresh server. What do we get? The same people who were super into SoD, the same people have never had to show an ounce of patience, gloating and name-calling those who just liked what Vanilla/Classic 2019 on this forum. Acting in the same way that a spoiled rotten kid would.
The same audience that consumes everything Blizzard puts out gets what they want again and again and again. It’s not as if there is no group of players who just liked what Vanilla or even Classic 2019 was, it’s that those players have left, and they won’t resub for more of the same. Had an alternative been offered they may have, but it was not. It’s like the theory of evolution, in game format.
Now is Blizzard smart in a business way to only serve one crowd? Maybe. That kind of sucks for those of us who don’t fit it still.
What am I grateful for? Binging on both Vanilla and Classic 2019, and as for now, there’s something to be said about spending time to improve real-life things, as I have been, instead of getting addicted to this again. I kind of wanted to “go back home to Azeroth” but as it stands now that’s not going to happen again so that’s ok it’s fine to move on.
Blizzard obviously thinks there is a reason, or they wouldn’t have introduced the changes. So that’s a logically false claim that there’s no reason.
And again, I can sympathize with your frustration. You are waiting for your thing, and once again, something for other players was introduced. I just think it’s odd for you to complain about the thing other people like. I don’t waste my time complaining that Retail sucks because it doesn’t have all the things I want. Or that Era sucks because it doesn’t have all the things I want. They were obviously built for not-me, so it would be weird for me to jump over there and complain, " I don’t like the things here!", 'cause the response to me would be obvious. “we know. it wasn’t made for you”.
Just keep asking for your fresh servers and being as constructive as possible. Unless you really think Blizzard is going to remove all the QoL changes from Anniversary and Era if you complain enough?
Maybe its good the game isnt for you, you sound massively addicted to WOW.
this. it’s a massive huge monstrous change stop pretending it isn’t. saying it’s just QoL is gaslighting nonsense.
it’s a minor QoL update stop pretending it isn’t. saying it’s a massive huge monstrous change is gaslighting nonsense.
except carpetbagger explained to you multiple times why it’s a big change. you just keep handwaving the explanations away
Get a diary.
Every night put why Dual Spec ruined your life.
Keep it to yourself.
