Disabling sharing game data

Does disabling that feature (sharing game data) prevent third parties from accessing my character and alternate characters information permanently?

By disabling it, you are turning off the ability to:

Share Game Data

Allow Battle.net to share game data with external developers to enable game related services such as leaderboards, statistic trackers, and more.

What other things does it prevent under “more”?

Honestly, I don’t think that I’ve ever seen any sort of description of what that particular part of the statement means. My guess would be that, due to its legal nature, they won’t likely provide us with those specifics.

If you disable the game data sharing option, third-party websites won’t be able to pull your character data from the API. The effect is Battle.net account-wide.

You can use my forum character as an example if you’d like to see the effects. You’ll find it doesn’t show up in Dataforazeroth, Raider.io, etc., but it does show up on Armory (which is not a third-party site of course).

Another thing you can do too, since it takes some time for the disabled sharing reaches all the sites? If you sign up for those sites, there usually is some way to manually hide all of your alta.

I’m suffering some internet issues and don’t have a way to easily access anything for my typical screenshots, but I know like on the checkpvp site, I’ve got all of my lot manually turned off so that the alts are not discoverable.

I was at least able to dredge up a post from some time back in a similar vein that has the screenshots and such.
