This is why they should have just made Rank 3 essences account-wide proper. Forget this currency mess and you avoid situations like the OP’s. It is better than nothing but now people are losing out on currency because they didn’t check a website first.

About that, they did introduce anima after saying that which coincidentally starts with an A. 
You had to log into your main first. I always do that anyway - it is your main after all.
It’s not about mains, it’s a database that marks “has account earned this rank 3 essence”, mains is the simple way to put it. It’s clearly an individual flag on each essence.
My main got echoes this week since my alt has a rank 3 essence that my “main” does not. However, this will rarely be the case, as it requires an account to run into a situation where one character has a rank 3 essence that a “main” does not. I have a mage friend who has all rank 3 dps essences, she will not ever see echoes on the character who has all rank 3 essences as the database already knows that she knows everything she can learn from other characters, so why give them to her? That is why the first set of initial reports was mainly mages/hunters/rogues, as they can’t learn any more.
Yes, the full solution is to log into your characters that have rank 3 essences that your other characters do not. That’s why the Blizzard article specifically says “the character on the account with the Rank 3 Essences will need to login first”. For many people, this is a single character that has all of those essences. For a select few, multiple characters will need to be logged into. For many, especially on the high end, they will not see echoes on their primary character, unless they unlock an unknown r3 on an alt, as they already have rank 3 essences that they care about.

you shouldn’t need to log in to a character with a r3 essence to unlock the currency. you’re unlocking a currency and not an essence, how does it make sense to begin with?

The one time I log into my alt first (because I had been logged in to her last) and I get screwed because of it.
The “log into your main first” should have been at the top of any announcement they made about it before the patch today. Not an hour after server reset.

People switch characters. Please tell me you realize this. You can go look up my “Main” Revolution-Hyjal. I haven’t done a keystone in about a week and a half on that character. I got frustrated and stopped playing it. Why would I log on that toon. There’s absolutely no reason for me to do so.
Sorry, hombre, I can’t go with this. I don’t want hand-outs or freebies. I simply want what I’ve rightfully earned and will continue to work for more.
They did say in the initial post of being ‘‘eligible’’ …
I did not get the ones in my pvp chest or mythic chest because of this. I was already logged in on my alt when the rest happened and went to get the chest after dailies. There was no indication while I was playing the game I would lose these. It is only one week of currency but it still stinks. I have never had anything in this game rely on logging to other characters for it to take effect.

Yes, but they didn’t explain what “eligible” meant. From what the original post said, eligible would be a character that needs the rank 3 essence and doesn’t have it yet.
That’s the problem most won’t and blizzard is laughing all the way to the bank…

Oh I’m not excusing their action or lack of forethought as well as lack of transparency on what they said.
I’m just putting together now what they meant.
I kind of caught that ‘‘eligible’’ part of the post which made me think that it’d cause a 
show.
So pissed right now. 4 toons with no currency from weeky PVP chest because I didn’t log the toon a barely played in the last month or two.
You know, I’m fully tired of this company and this game. I feel like i’m disappointed every time I do something in game. Corruption is a Fail, Essences were a fail, and the lack of content in this turd of a patch is abysmal.
I was so excited to play today because “Essences are more obtainable i’ll have rank 3 of a new essence today before raid” And then to open my chest and do my assault without receiving any echoes because of THIS…trash.

I feel you there, I will quite endlessly open tickets if it means getting this currency it’s INSANE. Blizzard has TO START helping their players I don’t even know why I’m still playing this game from the terrible customer service.
Yeah, they did it backwards. You should get the echoes anyway.

it makes sense in a database buffer isnt always loaded with all character data and only refreshed when the character logs on. This saves memory and performance in blizzards servers. Not all characters ever created are updated in the buffer, imagine keeping the hundred of millions of charactera loaded at all time…
thats totally fine, but they should’ve let us know about this BEFORE implementing this system, not by making a Twitter post that 300 ppl read before logging in
Ok I’m fine with not getting the echos refunded, but…
I play two main characters and I’ve grinded different +3/+4 essences on each…
When I log on my mage I can get echoes but I can’t buy the essences my rogue already has…
When I log on my rogue I can’t get echoes and I have no option with mother to buy any…
So how does this get fixed?? I’m not doing another 90 days for the Aqua Murder Force ach…
