This is not the definition of threatening game balance lol. If those players want PvP badly enough, they would make it happen - this, in turn, would have the effect of providing more balance, not less. Literally.
I think you meant to say it threatens game imbalance for those who wish to reap the benefits of imbalance on all sides.
You would need half of a server’s population to delete their characters and reroll to balance some of the most skewed servers. That is not a reasonable expectation. If you honestly believe that to be in any way shape or form acceptable, then we are done here. You are too far gone to reason with.
Player-driven solutions to player-created problems - Blizzard has said something to this effect before. Otherwise, they can continue waiting in queue same as they currently are. With the current (lack) of systems to balance realms in place, these people have no incentive to provide any semblance of balance. They could, though.
Literally all of the forums/reddit posts/etc. were calling out that Horde would be the dominant faction. I’m not trying to make this devolve into faction wars, as much as I love my tribalism threads (genuinely), but come on - you had to be incredibly ignorant to not realize servers would be this skewed, even as early as making your character.
I guarantee same-server BGs would fix this to a very large extent, at the very least.
And yea, free transfers are gone right now. I’m saying bring them back for the badly affected realms. I dont want to hurt anyone. I just want to make the game better.
Personally I had been enjoying the cross server rivalries I had made in WSG. Most of them were a lot of fun and it was fun to play certain teams I won’t get to play anymore.
For the most part I am not doing a deep dive through the entire thread but I have seen Cerri make some irrational comments but there is one thing I tend to agree with:
I say this because i had no idea classic was going to be a thing until literally the day before it dropped. I had a buddy reach out and was like “hey we are getting the band back together!” and im like “F yeah we are going to pvp and pwn noobs.”
I had no idea what people were doing this:
So what did i do? I rolled horde, on stalagg with buddies because herod was full to the gills which is where my buddy wanted to go but blizzard said nah dog you need to do stalagg.
2 weeks later I look around and im thinking to myself this server is super stacked. Tried several other servers found the same thing all Horde favored so finally rolled alliance.
Point of my long winded post that meanders about aimlessly? You are actually both kinda right. This is a player created problem sure but Blizzard screwed the pooch by allowing people to create this problem to begin with. Some folks took action and swapped around, others did not. You can’t blame either for their choice at this point.
One thing is 100% certain though. BG’s are much better when they aren’t crossrealm. Do nothing AFK’s and bots are more easily spotted and policed by the community, rivalries develop, and communities are born. I know some of you don’t think so but thats probably because pvp isn’t your scene.
Blizzard forcing faction balancing intervenes with player choice. Now that can be misconstrued of me to be contradicting myself. But Blizzard provided options, free options; and maybe they should do one more round of free transfers again. But I still believe players, especially Horde would transfer to the servers with the fewest Horde that want shorter queues for BGs. It would create more community on these larger servers, whereas my home server has that; I know nearly every Horde on my server, but that’s because we are so few. And even fewer of us plan on staying, and we sometimes hope we’ll be merged. It’s obvious that a majority of Horde PvPers don’t want to come to Heartseeker. We’ve had a select, dedicated few. Maybe we would see more with server specific bgs.
