Did you guys like the new Lord of the Rings show?

No I didn’t. Rts game?

Nah it’s live combat. It’s pretty much a Lord of the Rings version of the old Star Wars Battlefront games. Two sides and you capture command posts in different maps. It was alot of fun and had a good campaign mode.

Yes. As a woman she-hulk is just so bad…

Tolkien would say something like:

I would ask them to make an effort of imagination sufficient to understand the irritation (and on occasion the resentment) of an author, who finds, increasingly as he proceeds, his work treated as it would seem carelessly in general, in places recklessly, and with no evident signs of any appreciation of what it is all about.

My first impression was “anyone who doesn’t like it should probably go straight to my ignore list”

Oh I’m pretty sure he would definitely hate the casting. After all, he is a man of his time.

Pretty sure he’d ban Jackson from touching his IP again after the dwarf and elf romance.

I am not an adamant Tolken fan myself though I am certain that it breaks several layers of lore.

I’m enjoying it so far.

It’s off to a slow start but that makes sense given it’s a series and not a movie trilogy, even then there’s been a few action scenes that I’ve liked. The CGI and practical set pieces are great, really immersive and you can tell they’ve got that Amazon budget going for them. Having this series and House of the Dragon going at the same time is a real treat, as House of the Dragon is more political and grimmer, but this hits more heavily the LOTR / Tolkien vibes. However, I’m all things fantasy, I also enjoyed the Warcraft movie for what it was. -shrug-

It was as expected. Woke stuff everywhere but without the ridiculous virtual signally of She Hulk and other stupid shows like it.

The sad part is the spirit of Tolkien’s world was nowhere to be seen.
Its a show about mythology with Tolkien’s character names.

There is elves, pre hobbits, dwarves and orcs but no Tolkien.

Have you read Silmarillion? Do you know Feanor in relation to Galadriel and Gimli? You know what? Nevermind. disagreeing is regarded as trolling in this forum and I’ll get banned, again. You win, I was mistaken. My bad.

Nah.

I’m more into Warhammer and authors like Michael Moorcock who pretty much flipped Tolken off.

For those that have watched the first two episodes, have they introduced Ar-Pharazôn & Tar-Míriel yet? It didn’t sound like they have yet from the synopses, but I wasn’t sure. Also, I’m not sure what exactly they are pulling from the Akallabêth though (I thought earlier in production they could only pull form the LotR appendices, but I think that changed some?). I will chain watch these at some point when the characters I’m interested in show up, so I will try to wait until then to actually pass judgement on how they told things :dracthyr_shrug:.

No, Tolkien’s family sold out and Amazon butchered the IP with their woke agenda. Even ignoring the woke stuff the CX is horrible, they use the same effects as Mandalorian, but the backgrounds in Mandalorian look real, and Rings of Power the backgrounds look like characters superimposed on a video game background. And since they did not have the full rights to the Silmarillion, they compressed two thousand years of Tolkien lore into a couple years.

I never liked 40K, maybe the whole space marine gene editing to create super race of soldiers that kill everything that’s not like them has something to do with it.

So, what scenes did you consider woke? I didn’t get that vibe at all.

It’s ok so far. Nothing’s caught me yet but it sure is pretty. Good thing I’m not one of the billions of silmarillion scholars that know the text back and front that are upset about black hobbits.

I keep seeing people say it was woke? What scenes did you think were woke?

I seriously don’t really get where people got that vibe, so just dissecting.
