I am still doubtful. EverQuest’s engine predates WoW and they handled it. There may some issue with WoW I am not aware of, but I am not willing to say WoW cant purely because of age. Or that it didnt launch with the building feature.
Maybe EverQuest had some talented developers who cared about the game, instead of people who only care about showboating on twitter.
They really phoned the big reward though. An ugly cat?
Hey now, to go from the forum response, not having that ugly cat was the End of the World.
garrisons are player housing…
Maybe.
But they also funneled a good portion of the design on to the players. Which people would freak out about here.
They created the system and some base items, with a ton of items player designed (it goes through a submitting and approval process) that you buy with their similar form of trade post tendors.
One of our SoD raiders had his Retail guild blow up on that boss. He’s raiding with a new guild to hit CE and then taking a break from Retail. Sounds awful.
No I’m pretty sure the raid design team is not working on content like Plunderstorm. People have speculated that the Spellbreak devs worked on this after Blizz bought them out, but we don’t know for sure.
The worst thing is that they said after Sepulcher that they wouldn’t do this anymore.
But they have.
So they were just lying. (No surprise.) And they’ll probably do it again next expansion. If they say (again) that they won’t, they’re just lying, again.
It also doesn’t help that they once again did the double-whammy of:
- They released the raid right before the holidays, then went on vacation for weeks so they weren’t doing anything.
- They wouldn’t make any changes until Hall of Fame filled up. But since this tier is particularly miserable, it took a long, long time for Hall of Fame to even fill. And then when it did, their fixes were insufficient (just look at the numbers…) but they haven’t done anything since.
I guess they were too busy playing Blunderstorm on their internal servers.
See above. The raid design team isn’t doing anything. Except watching the raid scene collapse.
IDK i kinda like it better than what they did to “Warthin”
BR is probably not for me, I don’t know haven’t tried it yet. I would suspect it will suffer from not getting the development needed to stand on it’s own while also being in an environment it doesn’t fit well into.
But they need to experiment, even if they don’t do well.
I would say I think between this and torghast they might be trying too hard to shoe horn game types into the game that don’t fit well and require too much development to do right.
Kind of like the support class. To be done right Aug needed to be added to the whole game, not a single class.
Not a raid tier, but they for sure could have used the time and man power to make the pvpers happy by giving them new maps and modes and stuff.
But nah, we all gotta deal with the Revenge of The PvP people.
Man, would sure be nice to have player and guild housing like
…
Everquest
Everquest 2
FF14
Guild Wars
Wildstar
Black Desert Online
FINAL FANTASY 11.
It’s almost like, Blizzard are hacks and don’t know what people want in an MMORPG. Note the RPG part, it doesn’t mean Rocket Propelled Grenade. But since the Halo People own the game now, they probably think it do.
I used to like professional wrestling. Then WWE decided they weren’t competing with other wrestling programs or even other sports, no they were going to be a “variety show” that targets every demographic and competes with everything else on tv. The result is that it became watered down to the point it was unwatchable to someone who wanted to see an actual professional wrestling show.
Plunderstorm feels like WoW stepping down that path…
For hacks, they’re doing okay having managed a top 2 MMO for going on 20 years - without housing no less.
Considering Season 4 of Dragonflight is about a month or two away, no Plunderstorm did not cost us a raid tier.
Just because people like something doesn’t make it good, or do you think The Kardashians and Jersey Shore are fine programming? Is that why they have so many views?
Or is it cause people like hot garbage? And WoW is a sweltering dumpster behind a seafood restaurant on a hot summer day.
People sure love drugs, do you think that’s good? Afterall it has so many users. They must love it, it must be amazing.
Did they buyout a studio that makes player housing games and move them into the wow team? No, didn’t think so. They did however buyout a studio that makes br games and move them into the wow team (back in SL). It didn’t cost you anything.
There wasn’t any plunderstorm last expansion and we got the same amount of raids and dungeons so all points to no. That said, thinking player housing could have been made in the same amount of time Plunderstorm was designed is utter lunacy.
Plunderstorm is assets already existing in the game right now, e.g. map, character model, movement, etc, in a different game mode.
Pretty sure they know how to make buildings then. Damn, they can make housing then.
