They’ve been pushing it since they added Belves considering it was part of their starting zone. They’ve just been getting more aggressive about it recently.
It’s possible their perspective of history is different, in that they were exiled far from the homes of the Night Elves and never really caught sight of them (sans Tyrande’s forces and Kael’thas during the third war).
I can absolutely see the negative resentment towards them, though.
Errr… no? The only time Liadrin went to Outland was to denounce Kael’thas. She had never been there before or since.
Kael’thas sent his forces to attack Shattrath, those forces didn’t carry the attack out, they instead joined the Sha’tar as the Scryers to oppose Kael’thas and his legion masters. Liadrin was chilling in Silvermoon while this happened.
What on earth made you think Liadrin was the one attacking Shattrath?
They grew arrogant and it bite them, and should have known a year a ahead of time I doubt they would have helped, being a “human problem” and all. It’s funny how they had a low opinion of humans despite the fact they’ve saved them more often than not.
I had to double check this myself but I wasn’t sure. They were lead by Voren’thal the Seer. With as many retcons as Blizzard has put out I wouldn’t doubt people are getting confused.
It’s been Voren’thal since the beginning in this case. You’re told as much when Khadgar gives you a tour of the city.
Again, TBC story was a hot mess, mix that with all the retcons and people will get confused.
Ah yes, confused the two, since I saw her with her knights in Shattrath blabbling something about assault.
But still, subjucating naaru and burning Alonsus’ chapel are on her concious.
Consensual enslavement.
Hilarious retcon.
Within the same expansion?
That’s charm of TBC. It was full of retcons. But I meant it was overall how hilariously it was framed. Belves enslaved naaru to drain it’s power dry, but it turnes out that “it’s ok because actually that Naaru wanted that to happen”. It’s as silly idea as human Sunwell. To this day I wonder what writers were taking when they were making TBC.
Yeah, but then they forgot about it for 11-12 years. I wouldn’t say they’ve been pushing it consistently.
TBC was all about making endgame raids that only one percent of the player base would ever get to see. Those top end raiders didn’t give beans about the story behind them, so it wasn’t taken very seriously.
This wasn’t really a retcon. M’uru knew what would happen, and it allowed it. It’s the idea behind martyrdom.
Don’t get me wrong. Lady Liadrin had no way of knowing that this being was allowing it to happen. But naaru are unbelievably powerful creatures, and I have some doubts that she even could have subjugated M’uru if it didn’t allow it.
I don’t know. I don’t think I agree with this part too much, at least in terms of the Sunwell. Because it made sense to me, if you walk through it. The blood elves were forced to use fel to survive because of the horrors they endured. A creature diametrically opposed to the fel agreed to make a horrific sacrifice to save an entire people; people who later made impressive strides in standing against the Burning Legion. It’s something a naaru would do, sacrificing itself to awaken righteousness in a people. Lady Liadrin became one of the staunchest champions of the Light after that, right?
Don’t get me wrong, a lot of the stuff they did was just a bunch of non sequiturs, one after the other. But that one I think made sense.
Truth to be told, my memory is very murky over this stuff, I was honestly sure it was a retcon and belves intentionally drained him out of power and that it was later retconned because it was too douchy.
But regardless, entire TBC was complete mess and made me lose interest in this race.

They migrated to Outland becuase Arthas ravaged this place so badly there was no point staying there
— in WoW " it’s ok, sure, they couldn’t withstand the Scourge or Amani alone and were depending on their alliances. But apparently after 10+ years they were defending themselves with remaining less of 10% of population just fine" -
Arthas used the Sunwell to review Kel’Thuzad.
---- WoW : “But it’s ok, we made this human avatar with conciousness that is actually a transformed Well, in which Dragon has fell in love btw” -
Belves violently launched their attack in Outland and almost killed the draenei on Exodar, you’d think that in return draenei would at best decorrupt Sunwell and close it down to not allow Legion use it anymore as portal to Azeroth, but apparently Velen was super nice guy and decided to instead empower it even more with light energies. Because sure, why not? It’s not like they have a record of power abuse.
So That Muu’ru stuff was just cherry on top.
They captured and intended to suck from it it’s power- “it’s ok, becuase the Naaru did it willingly so it doesn’t count”.
There were oddly too many “conveniences” in this story to undo what made belves- belves. And overall lots of stuff from Outland was very confusing. But BfA is really catching up with that level imo. It gave me as big headaches.
Both are playing amateur archaeologists, one is playing amateur target practise target.
Wasn’t that in a manga well before 2.4?
It’s perfect writing. It’s pretty much exactly how a blood elf would speak of the kaldorei.
I was speaking in general that it happened in this period. But what is done is done and Kalec is still a creep.
(Commentary): I agree. I could see your average, run of the mill Blood Elf saying stuff like this regarding Night Elves. Lady Liadrin, however, is not your average, run of the mill Blood Elf. It doesn’t strike me as something she’d say. For one thing, what does she have to prove to begin with? She already fought for the Nightborne, after all. For another, it’s not historically accurate, so why the prevarication?
