Did Liadrin Lie to Thalryssa?

That was Krasus who created her and he’s dead.

Yeah but Kalec tried to get into the Sunwell’s pants and made Azuregos into a meme wanting a Sunwell waifu as well.

Krasus created, but Kalec wanted to bone. And then he switched to Jaina. :grimacing:

That dragon is truly messed up.

He’s got a thing for human women with light hair. Don’t be prejudiced.

Op, in retrospective that dialogue was just a taste of BfA incoming writting (ergo inflammatory and nonsensical).

'sfine. It was well over a decade ago. But…you’re missing a couple of points.

Arthas and the Scourge did crumble Quel’thalas. But that wasn’t why they went to Outland. They went there because when Kael’thas returned to try to lead his broken, hopeless people, they had the misfortune of meeting one of the most colossal racists on the planet, Garithos. After sending the blood elves on several suicide missions, he eventually made up some bollocks reason and sentenced them - all of them - to death. They were locked up in prisons in Dalaran until they escaped to Outland.

That’s the gist of it; I’m sure someone can correct me on the specifics. But this wasn’t just some random hop skip and jump.

I’m not gonna lie. That was kinda weird.

Velen had a vision about this. While I know that for some reason, the writers decided to call his visions into question during Legion (for some baffling reason, because they had always been fine before), during this time, they were pretty absolute.

But Velen’s like that. He is a super nice guy. And if he didn’t purify the Sunwell, that would essentially be ignoring M’uru’s sacrifice and condemning an entire race of people to more or less live off fel energies.

You’ve got to remember that Velen probably feels an enormous amount of guilt about a lot of that. The Sunwell was being used to bring in Kil’jaeden, and those two go way back.

The Draenei are also a fairly peaceful people. More than any race currently on Azeroth, they know how important it is to be given a chance. The opening quests on Azuremyst, when the night elf priestess wakes up and calls you “eredar”? That’s…they have to own that.

It’s a story of redemption. Liadrin was, if memory serves, the one to actually come up with the idea of draining M’uru. That’s one reason, I think, it was important to Velen that she realized what she was doing was wrong.

He just really likes pools of…mana…

Deep…deep…pools of mana.

Nope, she merely demostrated she could do it after getting pretty basic instruction from Rommath and Astalor (now these two were the actual culprits in regards to draining M´uru). Liadrin all things considered at the time, was a very “balanced” individual -and balance was key to not succumb to the addiction. She kinda impressed Rommath and he especifically asked for her in his little “light drain” experiment.

He took them because he wanted to find a new source of power since the Sunwell was down, he followed with Vash’j to meet up with Illydan. All in all their actions wouldn’t make sense if there really was possibility of using Sunwell again.
“Remember the Sunwell” but not really, it was never gone to begin with apparently.

That’s what I was saying even the nice people have to be smart, if he can forgive people that tried to kill him and his refugees a moment ago, ok, but this is the second time Legion was summoned via the well on this world. Wouldn’t it be wiser to purge it and then shut it down?

We had newer Legion invasion a moment ago, they knew that previous gate was in there, reastically that should be one of their main targets to get there, corrupt it and use it for conquest.

Well, the first time they tried to destroy a Well, it shattered the continent.
This is the Reason Tyrande and Malfurion choose to leave the one Illidan created alone. They didn’t want to repeat that.

I think it is fairly clear the Blood Elves didn’t realize they could fix it, whether or not it was possible.

Hence why they left it in WC3.

The whole point with the Blood Elves in Outland was that they thought Kael was going to lead them to the promised land and save them from all the hardships in Quel’thalas. It would have been just another example of them trying to ignore their problems.

The Blood Elves coming to the realization that Kael was nuts and that what they really needed to do was stay and fight to rebuild what they already had rather than running away is an important development in their story and characterization.

Forgive me, I want to make sure I understand this. Do you mean that leaving with Illidan and Vashj to go to Outland didn’t make sense because the Sunwell could be restored? Because there was still a death warrant on their heads, and their home was destroyed. Also, they were dying.

As far as knowing it could be restored, no one knew it could be restored. Naaru are being of pure Light and power, and didn’t exist on the world.

Also, I think “Remember the Sunwell” is less about the Sunwell, and more about the loss of their ancestral homeland and people. The massacre at the hands of the Scourge.

First, what Faelia said.

Second, purging it and shutting it down would pretty much condemn a race. That’s not who Velen is.

And all these factors were ignored and plot armored to justify them remaining there for next 10 years with Scourge running rampant and Amani who tried to reclaim their land before even forsaken shown in.
So all what wow was saying is that previously they couldn’t stand a chance against both but suddenly they can with decimated numbers, kingdom in total disarray, with even more of their forces missing so it’s even less than 10% of population as huge chunk went to outland, and additionally some forces were killed in Northrend in pursuit of Arthas. And in those 10 years between wc3 and wow, and additional years in vanilla period they managed to hold up on just fine.

They were living for a long time without a well. And secondly the last well was imploded to stop the legion invasion surging through it. Kil’Jaden was already defeated so they had time to purge it and deactivate it without causing Sundering.

And ironically there was already a method shown for that - you can transform it to object and destroy it. If it was transformed to human avatar it can be transformed to anything else.

And honestly if they wanted to tribute their fallen they would simply use “remember the fallen”.

Not really. They were left bottomfeeding off of any Magic source they could find. That’s why they started to turn to Fel to survive. Without the Well, we’d probably have an entire nation of Fel Elves to deal with.

But it was still a font of Fel and Death. This is the primary reason Velen “sanctified” it, as much to purify it’s corruption as much as to save the Blood Elves.

By the Powers of the Dragons.
