Diablo Immortal scores one of the lowest games ever in history

Blizzard beat their own record? Going lower than Warcraft 3 reforged?? HAHAHA. Diablo immortal gonna burn hopefully.

No one even knows how big the gap is going to be. Game been out for less than a week.
It will take at least another month into the season to even notice anything remotely close to a gap.

You make it sounds like p2w is like full 278ilvl vs f2p being 220 greens. It’s not. Even devs said it won’t be the case.

So, sure, p2w folks can get to a somewhat higher level…so what? Are you actually playing 12h/day right now to compete? I doubt it.

people aren’t taking into account power creep either. after a few updates the people that spent a few grand on the game are going to get power creeped by new stuff. this always happens with these types of games.

I know that on Asmongold’s stream there was someone who was already level 40 when the game released. A bunch of people no lifing and spending a bunch of cash, I’m sure people are already near level cap by now

You can do dailies perpetually for decades and never catch up, you mean. But as long as you are happy doing the same dailies, you’ve won, right?

I think they pushed it too far, which is actually a possibility. The pay-2-win is in the free player’s face right from the start and never stops. Meanwhile, there are only so many whales who are willing to play a game where there are only a handful of other whales to impress.

It’s a big investment by Blizzard into a fast buck game that will have no staying power. You will quit after you’re tired of unrewarding dailies. But they will get an earnings blip so the next quarterly won’t look as bad as the last one, and that’s all that matters, right?

Think once it been out for a month and moved to pc we will have a clearer idea of how much can be done before money becomes the only option to move forward.

It still new enough that there are plenty of activities that will not require any money. Is also going to be season and only items that are obtained through loot boxes for that season?

So much DI rage on the WoW forums. Ugh.

There’s ‘catching up’, presumably to other players in this instance? And there’s simply being able to play the game/complete what’s available. If content can reasonably be completed for free, I don’t see a problem. If the only thing spending does is help you climb leaderboards, I don’t see a problem.

Like in WoW terms, if your group is good enough to clear a mythic raid, adding +10 across the board to the group’s ilvl will make it easier probably, but they can already clear it anyway so it’s not really ‘necessary’. That’s the point I’m making here. P2W is only a ‘problem’ if it’s either explicitly or implicitly required in order to access/complete content.

I did for the first 2 days or so. It is definitely a hardwalled p2win.

Guessing you have not played much D3 to compare the difference of stat distributions and speedrunning rifts to get the exact items/powers/etc you’re looking for, and the time it takes.

Cut those drops to 10% once per day for f2p (rather than once every 3-5 minutes depending on the rift), and you get the idea.

There is a crazy massive difference.

Which whatever I guess. Diablo fans just have to be happy with what we’re given no matter what.

omg good point! i need to find the official DI forums asap

So did I. I got to 46 in 2 days. Literally nothing has indicated anything to a P2W barrier.
All my gear is gemmed, got every legendary socket and got tons of spare runes to get the rest to upgrade the ones I have now. Sitting at tons of useless gold. I run all modes solo without any issues.

Yall are just being dramatic OVER A FREE MOBILE GAME.

I’ll see how it goes but so far I’ve just been playing through the story and I haven’t been compelled or bombarded with ads like the forums told me would happen.

After tutorial you have a shop button that I can just not click on.

And keep doing the quests.

I’m more impressed at how player mentality is already hyper focused on min/maxing endgame of a game that had been out for an hour.

So you would be happy to do the same dailies for a decade with other players who are also happy to complete the same dailies for a decade, and you would consider that winning.

Your group of free to play players will never be good enough to clear hard content. Only the whales will be able to do that. That’s kind of like requiring mythic raiders to pay for PvP carries or do rated PvP themselves to get high enough rating so they could get gear to raid in and then upgrade it with honor earned to a great extent through more carries.

Which happened in this expansion season 1. If you raided mythic, you either paid for carries or you did the PvP yourself. Did you raid mythic?

In the end unfortunately we’ll just be waiting with the carrot-on-stick for D4 release, and pray they have not decided to have a bunch of garbage in game purchases after buying the game itself.

Guess we’ll see.

People here have not even cleared the first raid and telling us we’re being overly dramatic lol. Okay.

Angry PC gamers review bombing a mobile game is hardly news worthy.
It really isn’t breaking any new ground in the mobile f2p market. This is just the first time a game of this type is getting lots of attention from the PC crowd.

Nobody had to do that except the bleeding edge racing to beat other guilds not the content.

Top end PvE is actually PvP where the competition is clearing it faster than other guilds and players. It’s a foregone conclusion that they will clear the raid.

You think guild #850 to get CE was forcing everyone to hit duelist or get benched or something?

You will have three groups the casuals, hardcore, and paying. Casuals should not have the hiest gear that should be given. It the hardcore who dump hours into the game that will be the factor. Can a hardcore play reach same level as a paying player, or is it still impossible to get to same level?

Blizzard is expecting players to pay in order to get through the grind. How hard is Blizzard pushing players to give in is what to look at. Many mobile games call themselves f2p, but really cut back on exp or drop the loot chances to get players to pay.

Destiny got a lot of heat for cutting the exp gain but having it require more to level. That way players would have to buy more exp.

Yea the min-max mentality is really toxic these days. Hopefully it changes some day but I feel like people will just get worse and worse about it.

I hit 60 without paying a dime. Full legendary gear in every slot ranked to lvl 5 as a mage. Got bored today and uninstalled. Meh it served its purpose for me, now I’m off to do something else.

That’s the key to what I was arguing. Is it reasonably within reach to complete content in the game? I’m not concerned about whether or not there’s a grind, or even how demanding or oppressive the grind might be. I’m concerned with whether, grinding aside, the game can reasonably be completed or not with what’s available for free. Whether or not it takes 10 years of dailies is irrelevant, if those 10 years are also not necessary in order to see everything there is to see.

Basically, if having the best gear is just for flexing, I don’t care what’s required to get it because it’s ultimately not necessary to have in order to play the game. D’you understand the angle I’m coming from here?
