Despite the promising start, this is the most toxic the wow community has ever been

The only people suffering are your retail players unable to cope, adjust or make the easy choices to improve their situation, in an undiluted pvp world.
That’s all this is, the same mindset that destroyed PvP in retail has creeped back into classic.
Players who think a pvp world means “i get to choose when and where”
If you think the whining will ever end, just wait to the retail whiners start getting one-shotted by twinks in BG’s.
Sorry whiners, you came here of your own choosing. You left your safe world of retail to dab in this world of unfettered Wpvp.
You have no say in this matter, this game doesn’t belong to you, you either accept it or move on, it is that simple.

I’m confident in saying many people truly didn’t realize what PvP servers would be like. I’d argue that the majority of players at launch didn’t visit the forums, didn’t play on private servers, and didn’t spend hours, days, or months leading up to launch “researching” the game. Expecting everyone to have planned ahead and learned what the situation was going to be like beforehand is unreasonable. Most folks likely just installed the game and went into it expecting to enjoy their experience.

I played on a vanilla PvP server for years and it was never as bad as people are describing current PvP server circumstances being. I consider myself lucky enough to have been active on the forums and active enough in BfA warmode to have realized what PvP servers, and the PvP server culture was going to be like ahead of time and avoid them like the plague.

Time HAS changed the gaming community significantly and design choices made in the context of MMORPG gaming 15 years ago only enable distasteful gameplay now. Was there ganking/PKing in Vanilla? Absolutely. However; the MMO community had largely grown up in the genre in games that required and rewarded cooperative and considerate social interaction. Certain social expectations were simply assumed as they were the common practice of the times.

That is no longer the case. People claim up and down that “the game mechanics don’t keep me from doing it so it must be ok.”. There’s such a thing as sportsmanship and fair play. Camping flight points and killing quest NPCs to the point where people aren’t able to do anything is not sportsmanlike; it’s disgusting mob behavior at its worst.

If people where honest with themselves and took a moment to think about how they’d feel id they were on the receiving end of their behavior we’d see positive change. As it is, the utter lack of empathy and consideration for fellow players these days is despicable.

Just because one can do a thing doesn’t mean one should do a thing. Current PvP culture is its own worst enemy and will eventually cause its own downfall.

That’s because the server is swamped by people who would otherwise have been playing on a non-RP server but rerolled on Bloodsail due to the extreme queues at launch. The large majority of people there now are the average PvE or PvP server player. Expecting “typical RP server” behavior these days only leads to madness.

Called it months ago.
The problem has always been the community, not the game.

Community is TOXIC ~ now I’ll bash the community with Ad Hominem

If they would let people transfer off away from these toxic communities, free or paid, it would help tremendously. But they won’t because natural horde bias and something about whining of the millions of undead mages having not enough alliance to kill. /s eye roll

I am at a lose when players look for sportsmanship in a pvp world.
This is nothing personal, it is players just taking to their role as faction members.
The whole premise of a Classic PvP server, was to go back to a time when anything goes and so we have that.
Yet here they are complaining all over again, because they got caught with their pants down.
Players who lacked the wherewithal to have leveled to 60 before P2 or thought PvE contents on a PvP server, would be more spine tingling with an adversary or two lurking about, but nothing really dangerous.
Well the world got a whole lot more dangerous, since P2.
I understand if it is too much for some players, but to seek Blizz intervention or to condemn players because their take on Wpvp doesn’t line up with your take is something I will counter at every turn.
I have zero problem with what is going on, I know BG’s will settle things down, I can wait another week.

Im not on a pvp server.
But i can say the people in classic are more toxic then retail from my experience after leveling over 14 toons on classic. Its a huge ego petting ground. Ill take retail over classic any day now after spending months on classic the good things were not enough to keep me interested in the behavior and tedium.

It’s toxic to whine about toxicity.

100%! I rolled on the only RP-PvE server available the minute name reservations opened because that’s the experience I want. I RP, love the general RP community, and the environment such communities engender. Bloodsail was quickly ruined by jerkwads rolling there strictly for the short queues at launch and expectations of “wrecking RP baddies”. Every day I see people complaining about the lack of wPvP and “cowards” who won’t flag up to defend capitols or strategic points. It’s an RP-PvE server for god’s sake. They’re the carebeariest of carebear servers. We still get people being nasty and crying that it’s an RP-PvP server like Grob or DD. I thought they were trolling at first. Turns out they didn’t pay attention to the server type; only the lack of queues.

Sadly, these people have all but destroyed the RP community and pollute the community with horrible behavior typical of non-RP servers. I’m normally pretty accepting of non-RPers on RP servers, but I’ve had it to the point where I just want those people the hell off my server.

Unfortunately we remaining RPers on Bloodsail have no recourse to but to keep our heads down and deal with it the best we can. It’s not like there’s another RP-PvE server to move to.

Mean response has barely been snuffed. More constructive response to follow.

How often have you been outnumbered? How often have you gotten off from a flight path to be immediately killed? How often have you been unable to turn in a quest? For how long have you had to repeatedly corpse run?

Dont be too judgemental. It’s one thing for the above to happen in relative balance - win some, loose some, get camped, etc. But there are very few people (including all the people saying “what did you expect on a pvp server?” who would still feel motivated to play much in the open world with being Killed 50 times more than you kill someone else in completely outnumbered fights.

Every now and then you think you’ll get a balanced fight, but halfway through 10 more show up. People dont mind dieing to the opposite faction, getting camped sometimes, or corpse walking sometimes. But when they can VERY rarely lay that pain back on someone else, you just feel like a mindless punching bag.

Sure there are places to go where you’re less likely to be constantly outnumbered. But usually these are the less ideal grinding locations and you cant stay too long or pick too many fair fights or they’ll call for backup and 10 show up to ruin your area.

It took 3 months for me to level. I’ve been tempted to reroll pve, but lack the motivation to level another character. Instead i’m banking on the potential for server transfers sooner than it would take to re-level and the hopes my guild moves. We’re a DKP guild and i dont want to loose that accrued DKP or the friendships. Also the reason people stay is because they hope it gets better for them either because of BG’s or because the pvp craze/ranking dies down for the average person.

Until you have walked in someone else’s shoes, be slow to judge them.

You are 100% on-point.

But, that’s to be expected from PvP players, and Horde PvP players in particular.

That’s just their attitude and how they operate. It was that way in Vanilla, it’s that way on private servers, and it’s that way in Classic.

It really isn’t surprising.

I play on a PvE server as well, and have noticed little of what you described. A lot of trolling in chat, people tagging as many mobs as they can, etc…

Still a lot of toxic behavior, just different forms of it.

I see some of that too but not as much as I see friendly and polite behavior. I’m really enjoying the community on Westfall.

This thread is correct - Vanilla was NOTHING in PVP terms like the S*** show that Classic PVP is today. I leveled on a mostly 50/50 mix server Crushridge US in the day and we had top Horde and Alliance guilds and the flight point ganking and corpse camping to dungeons was 1% of what you have today. You absolutely could get ganked by a few horde and then res back and continue about your business. Today you cant really quest or farm hardly at all without being killed so much its not worth it. And corpse camping so it takes 20 deaths to get into instances etc was mega super rare if at all. I cant imagine if I was a new player - logged on to a que to get in thanks to single layer, then got ganked again and again I would quit this game in a heartbeat. I think more and more of us longterm Alliance WOW players are doing so as well and with a lot of hard feelings to Blizzard for not handling this correctly. They are burning goodwill from long term users and we wont be going to purchase shadowlands thats for sure. The people I talk to are looking for a whole new game to explore. I think this is the single worst direction Ive seen Blizzard move in the last few years. Classic should be a FANTASTIC opportunity for them to earn back players and instead they are driving them off in droves - I see people who logged on EVERY day barely logging on now - many are cancelling and they wont be going back for retail. This could be fixed in many ways in a single day if Blizzard dedicated the time and resources to Classic they should have - but they did not and are not and are actively losing value daily.

PvE servers are exactly what I wanted and expected. A little over crowded at the moment, but otherwise, loving every minute of it. Stop being surprised you got what you signed up for! Play a PvE server. You picked it, deal with it or reroll! SIMPLE!!!

I always agree that Gankfest Servers are garbage. I’m not against Paid Transfers. What I don’t like are players crying about Gankfest Servers despite deciding to roll on one, anyway. That’s what really grinds my gears :cocktail:
