This is misleading. A fresh 80 will, on average, get destroyed in a T8. It takes very specific specs to be able to do a T8 on a fresh 80 (assuming you’re solo). A pet class will have a much easier time than a mage for example. Or unless your “fresh 80” is already 610 ilvl (which is the ilvl suggested by the game for a T8). But then I wouldn’t call that a “fresh 80”.
A true fresh 80 is what? 580ilvl or less? (assuming you didn’t do M0’s along the way)? I mean, since you can get to 80 pretty quickly now with the achieve buff, chances are people getting to 80 on alts are probably closer to 560ilvl. Hell, I’ve seen some 80’s that are still in the 400’s. Don’t ask me how they managed to do that though lol.
I get that, but I get that hit of dopamine from like, completing a higher level of key or killing a raid boss, like from the accomplishment. The gear that drops is meaningless and doesn’t really matter except to maybe progress more, but it doesn’t give me that seem feeling of accomplishment or dopamine.
It just feels too much like getting a hit of dopamine from pulling a slot machine and I’ve never been able to understand that personally lol
Yeah I just leveled a mage to 80 and I geared my mage up by doing the anniversary event before I was able to do T8 delves, and it’s still pretty iffy and I’m only doing well because my Brann is really high level with good curios because it’s an alt.
This is another good point I had forgotten about that makes it almost impossible to compare. Since Bran is account wide, a maxxed out Brann will be a lot more helpful than a new Brann would be.
I totally feel you on that. The accomplishment has always been the reward for me rather than the gear (although frankly being able to get swanky-looking gear is always a plus).
But I also kind of see how people feel accomplished by gearing up a character. The RNG element always prevented me from being too gear focused since it’s LITERALLY in the name that it’s up to chance, so I don’t really look forward to drops anymore. However, I DO get the appeal of progressing a character, so I can kind of see where folks feel like the flow of loot makes that goal feel too attainable without much effort.
I think there’s a happy medium here. Frankly I’ve always been an advocate of bringing back a Justice/Valor badge system like we had in Wrath or Bullion so that it feels like you’re earning your gear over time rather than being at the mercy of RNG, and that certain items could be locked behind those accomplishments.
It’s not a problem created by players at all. It’s a problem created by the devs. for making delves too easy in comparison to M+ and for continuing to insist that RNG loot drops for M+ are good design.
It’s exactly what I’ve done on every single one of my alts, including the early ones before Brann was high level with maxed out curious.
It’s pretty easy to get an alt up to 570-580 and I’ve yet to run into a spec that can’t solo T8 delves at that point, even if it takes some careful pulling.
Hell even my first 80 blew through delves really quickly. I probably could have jumped up to T8 even faster but I was expecting it to be harder.
Are they though? Let’s look at the facts, shall we?
You only get hero track credit for the vault from a T8 and above once per week.
There is no reward for doing higher difficulty delves than T8. So you cannot get above 616ilvl starting gear and certainly not anything on the Myth track.
T8’s are not as easy as you make them out to be (at least not for every spec in the game). Certainly not a true fresh 80 with a garbage Brann and curios.
You only get 3/6 616 gear once per week from the vault. It seems to be this point that has most people butthurt about delves? Kinda silly.
You can get another piece of 1/6 610 hero track gear with a map but the drop rate on maps is so low that it isn’t even worth mentioning.
Delves will normally award champion track gear (assuming it’s bountiful). So you are restricted to 4 random pieces of champion track gear per day.
M+ awards 2 pieces of heroic track gear at the end of each run in the chest.
M+ does not have a daily cap (this is probably the biggest elephant in the room. M+ really should have a daily cap. Delves have a cap. Raids have a cap. But M+ does not.).
M+ awards more crests and valorstones than delves do. Which means as an upgrade path, it is faster than delves.
The vast majority of trinkets awarded by delves are garbage regardless of their ilvl.
So delves are already awarding less gear, at a slower pace and with less upgrade currency than their equivalent +7 in m+.
And then there’s the biggest elephant in the room by far: People who have switched to delves have likely done so because it suits their preferred gameplay/experience far more than m+ or raiding do. So messing with the ilvls of either really doesn’t affect each other since the venn diagram between these 2 types of players don’t overlap all that much.
Because theyre getting better gear for a fraction of the time/effort. Path of least resistence type of thing
BoEs and crest/valorstone discount has been a thing for awhile. Unified rep is nice but minor when it comes to gearing.
I just think loot distribution is disproportionate
Hell, tune raiders a bit harder if increasing the loot drops starts causing raid groups to grt too strong too fast. Aint nothing worse than see 40 pieces of loot drop and not getting a single one lol
Dopamine
603 first t11
607 first let me solo him cheeve
Can confirm, nothing requiring Hero track
Also:
Except both coexist so nothing is existing at the expense of another. Also funny you claim its not difficult content while not even doing the content? Almost like:
You say this, but m+ rewards got nerfed and it didnt change particiaption numbers at all. A d for as long as m+ has existed, people have always played past the point where they got rewards
This is what we’re talking about. My evoker completed his first T8 at 576. My shaman was like 583, DK was 577.
And just for reference, i dont run delves. Even between running my different alts through 8s to try to find this “more difficult for certain classes” thing, my Brann just hit level 30 and most of my curios are 1/4 still.
Just drop reward tracks in delves for an easier on ramp to mythic dungeons.
Veteran gear from bountiful chests, champion from maps and vault.
This would keep mythic dungeons relevant.
If needed change delve difficulty accordingly.
I don’t care about low level mplus. And even then there’s no reason to do low level mplus when selves are super easy and award better gear.
4 rubs a day is hardly not being able to spam them.
Either way the gear in talking about is hero track from the vault. If you want to insert yourself into a conversation at least know what’s being discussed.
Didn’t M+ did the same and raiders complained and people running M+ defended it? I kind of recall. Granted, I have not been ding high level Delves yet and playing once every several days, so I could be wrong.
Leave Delves alone, it is not up to M+ to decide how other people gear imo. Delves do not invalidate yours. You feel you want Delve loot? Do Delves. It is exactly what you tell casuals if they want gear, to do M+.
It is another side of the game, one you can do alone, which is pretty cool. Why would we want to ruin it?
First the elitist type gatekeepers say that us casuals want mythic loot sent to us in the mail, but now that we’re getting some mid level loot by earning it, we’re not earning it enough lol
These types of people will always be there to draw a line in the sand behind them, they always want to be just in front of the cutoff point between the haves and have-nots, this way there can always be a bunch of peasants behind them lol
Nerf my Delves, and I will go out of my way to brick your keys.
I cap out at Hero, and can’t get gilded except for conversion. You can cap gilded week one of you’re good enough, and if you’re not good enough, stop the whining.
