Delves being “too rewarding” is not a problem created by delve players

I’ve never been nor will I ever be opposed to the game being more rewarding.

Normal dungeons are the lowest on the tier level in the dungeon path. Tier 3 delves don’t reward high gear at all. Apples to apples.

Blizzard has deemed delves to be acceptable challenge for the current rewards.

Blizzard has made mistakes over and over again.

What about offering those rewards from world quests instead?

I want my myth track items tonight in the mail box for login in.

I agree. Allowing M+ to be the bellwether for how rewarding and challenging OTHER content needs to be was a mistake.

I’m hopeful they are going to continue breaking away from that philosophy.

It just makes no sense. Those players don’t want to play with the kind of players who do delves and pass on m+ and raiding because they’re all bad or whatever dumb reason they think…

But then they make the argument that the delve gear being “too good” is a problem because now some people don’t feel compelled to do m+… Exactly the players they already don’t want to play with

Make it make sense

So what should be?

People seem to care about gear and want the path of least resistance to get it. Either because they need the gear to progress into what they actually enjoy, or they’re literally only here to make number go up.

As I said above there doesn’t need to be one content that all other forms of content are balanced around pleasing the occupants of.

This only tracks for the most degenerate players. The gear acquisition rate from M+ is positively anemic. Most players aren’t going to be doing their bountifuls and then clocking in another 20 hours spamming keys for gear, let alone more. Most players are going to do their bountifuls and then maybe double or triple that time investment in mythics. This will result in the vast majority of their gear being from delves until they’ve spent a significant amount of time in the post-delve gearing phase.

What’s happening with alts right now is what’s going to happen with mains (and then alts) in season 2. We don’t really have to wait and see on this. The key stockpile created an absolute absurdity, but the core issue had and has nothing to do with that.

Well the game’s leading Director seems to disagree with that. At some point you’ll just have to learn to live with it.

And yet people running 10-20 delves daily is being used as an example of how “easy” it is to gear as a delver.

I don’t see how the reason for it is pleasing occupants of xyz. Surely it’s about keeping the whole system in some sort of parity.

There’s three aspects to an item. It’s frequency, it’s unbudgeted power, and it’s track / ilvl.

If there’s anything wrong with m+, it’s probably how hero track drops too early in the ladder, makes heroic raid worthless outside of the few rare items and trinkets.

You realize how absurdly disingenuous you’re being when you say this, right? Do you think I didn’t read the thread, or are you actually oblivious enough to think this is a reasonable interpretation of events?

That just makes even less of mythic+ worth doing compared to delves.

Just goes to show Mythic elitists only care about gear, they don’t even enjoy the game they’re playing.

And this isn’t one of them. You already out gear delves, why do you care so much about solo players actually getting a bit of decent gear?

My stance doesn’t change. Also titanforging was a thing so at one point there was a chance of getting a super high ilvl item from WQs.

That’s the ironic part to me.

The complaint is based around gear, that complaint being that nothing below a +7 rewards gear on par with/better than delves, so the goal becomes “nerf delve loot.”

Then when you say “No, but thanks, I’d like it to stay where it is.”

The retort is “Why do you only care about gear?”

Rofl.

What about buffing gear rewards from all content to the point people are fully geared within a few hours of logging in and gear may as well not exist.

Idk it seems to me you have such a low opinion of the concept of gear in MMOs yet want more and more of it.

I’ve come to realize that if delves are meant to be a new staple of wow progression then similar to raiding and m+ they should provide equal rewards. The problem with Devles is that their equivalent rewards were too easily accessed at a substantially lower difficulty.

Blizzard seems to have agreed because it appears since the beginning of the season they have drastically lowered the drop rates to maps which are the equivalent to a +7 or heroic raids. Personally, I’d like the actual challenge of the delves to go up because reducing map drops seems like a band-aid fix at best.

The real issue is delve scaling. It’s difficult if not impossible for Blizzard to balance content that is meant to scale off party size because solo players can’t have access to the utility an entire group will have. An entire group will have 3-4 interrupts at any given time, blood lust, battle rezzes, buffs, and potentially the tank, healing, dps trinity.

Its impossible to balance around the utility of a full group while simultaneously being able to scale down the content to a single person in a meaningful way. Even if the content is tuned perfectly to force a single player to utilize all of their abilities having a group will be infinitely easier. This means that Blizzard can only balance delves with % scaling unless they are literally tuning casting frequencies, mob spawn totals on a per pull basis, etc…
