Delves are great BUT traps and objectives are bad

My brann and followers from dungeons are doing so good. I don’t understand why some people complain about them.

I have noticed Bran randomly going unconscious a LOT in various Delves.

I doubt anyone is going to do Delves for long if it’s just another game mode of wave after wave of hurr-durr hack and slash. As an action game, WoW can’t compete with other games. I’d like to see more satisfying objectives and more clever traps.

Additional damage for failing a mechanical doesn’t work with puzzles if you already know the solution. Like you can’t just give me the same wordl every day. Once I got it I’ll get it again with ease. Have you ever replayed a zelda game? you’re naturally speedrunning that because you know the puzzles.

You can’t scale zelda style puzzles without reinventing puzzles at higher difficulties. That’s like asking Blizz to come up with 88 delve puzzles + scaling algorithm for mobs instead of our current 8 + scaling algorithm. They just wouldn’t have the time to do so. not to mention the lower tiers are wasteful.

Indiana jones’ style of traps in a delve sound interesting as a rotational mechanic and far more plausible and likely. Once day it’s a boulder to dodge and then next it could be spikes. Pay attention to your surroundings and you see which is coming.

Sadly, Brann is still having some pathing issues for me, and decides the scenic route is better than walking in a straight line, or running in circles.

This is the core pillar of this franchise since ever.
But don’t worry, WoW is a themepark, you can play pokemon or professions if you want.

He’s short an a little chonky, he likes to take naps

that got adjusted not long ago, maybe it needs a little more tuning.

Is yours falling asleep during fights or somthing?

Which would be kind of funny actually, passive aggressive napping :upside_down_face:

you sure you’re doing them right? I mean it tells you what ilvl gear you’ll get, and it’s guaranteed to drop if you’re doing them right, so perhaps you embellish a bit regarding no items dropped and irrelevant gold?

that being said, it’ll be cool if some were just farm fests and others were puzzle fests. I don’t think i’ve done them all, but so far they all seemed about the same mob/puzzle wize, but that might be on me

Yeah at random times he’s just napping prob due to aoe and stuff.

The objectives are practically the same goal with different ways to do it: clear the delve. As for traps, I barely seen any except for ones specific to the delve itself like the cursed bubble in one of the Kobyss delves; they’re far easier to avoid or ignore than Choreghast’s traps.

I picked up a map somewhere that added a bonus chest to my next delve and it got me thinking about other modifier-maps could exist that affected the actual content of the delve.

Would it be interesting if there were special maps that let one set the next delve to a specific type of content (monster-rich, resource rich, puzzle rich, etc)?

The nice thing about Torghast was how the curve worked.

You started the event rather weak. Sometimes, it was a struggle just get through the first few packs of mobs.

But if you survived that, then you started getting the OP bonuses and you trended to dominate the power curve.

Until you started reaching the end, when the pendulum started ticking back. And the real game was whether you got the right powers and such to balance with the rapidly strengthening mobs, plus whatever prize the boss turned out to be.

However, Torghast had the time element to keep things moving, and it added difficulty to it. Most of the time, it was not a big deal, but you had to keep moving.

That said, I always hated those few levels that were trap heavy. I knew they were trap heavy, I knew where the traps were, but hated dancing around them anyway, as they tended to be quite lethal.

Delves have no timer. They have those other mechanics that act as pseudo timers in order to reward efficient decision making.

We’ll see how it gets worse at the higher difficulties, but while I don’t want a gogogo zerg Greater Rift fest, I don’t want lethal jump puzzles with pixel death traps either.

Heres a hot take, i liked torghast more than delves.

I got one of those also.

Not sure from where either

I spent it, the secret chest had a buff in it like the ones we get from Cobalt Assembly area

Hold your beer. Can’t make content too hard for casuals.

Make sure you dont have the item that causes him to lose health. Cant remember off the top of my head. But that was an issue.

we can drop the candles and air purifiers now.

I played ranged casters so I do on every encounter.

On the boss fights I drop it near the next candle/purifier refuel so I can run between them. The damage you take when not in the effect area isn’t so high in the tiers we’ve had so far. So I’ll even run a short distance away to get treasures and stuff and just take the damage. Brann usually makes me food if I drop past a certain health point

Im a casual and support his idea. This hate on casuals really has to stop. Being casual doesnt mean you cant do the content. It often means we just want to do when we want to and at what level.

You should post more often in casual’s threads then. We’re met with seething and tears most the time.

I try to skip drama or megathreads. Im not going to play catch up. :stuck_out_tongue:
