Decrease Gpy travel time?

People that dont play mage talking about pruning things from mage dont understand how poorly designed mage is. It completely hinges on a few abilities and any removal of them would make the class largely unplayable mechanically and perhaps even worse: not fun to play. I will however advocate for a cooldown on gpy as long as chaos bolt gets a similar treatment.

only if you make grounding totem eat the next hostile spell cast in the vicinity rather than lasting 3s and eating all spells behind a pillar

Decreasing the travel time allows less instant cast spells to be cast at the same time the Gpyro hits, because of the GCD’s involved with getting meteor, combustion, fire blast, fire blast, etc etc etc all off at the same time as Gpyro.

If missile speed is increased it gives the mage a much smaller window of time to hit multiple abilities at once, making the damage lean more towards sustain instead of burst damage. High sustain is much easier to heal then high burst damage.

fireblast an combust are off GCD and can be cast while casting other spells… so I guess you mean meteor and the pyro procs ?

Yes, because even if fireblast / combustion is off the GCD Fire mage still needs to use Meteor / Normal Pyro in their combo. The shorter the travel time of Gpyro the less they get to spam in the kill window.

It’s essentially the same thing people complained about Ret for, having to much damage in a 2 global window prior to Executioner Sentence + Wake of Ashes nerfs with wings active.

just remove one of the stupid freaking things

So basically just like every other BFA spec? Every class is designed poorly with a few exceptions, looking at Fury wars. FYI fire mages, Xaryu has posted several videos of 100-0 in 3 seconds without GPie, you think that any change to GPie would change that? No. So changing GPie, which shouldnt be spammable to begin with, wont kill your spec. Thats being a bit melodramatic.

Since every BFA fire mage is supporting this ridiculous spell, I’d be willing to compromise with any/all of the following: CS being a 3 sec lockout on par with wind shear, 2 dispells being baseline for all healers, maledict removed, ring of frost not usable as fire.

This is a valid argument. That is why I would pair it with the mage not being able to cast the second gpy til the first one pops. At very least this makes the mage want to get in a little closer before sheep double pyroing, which makes them more vulnerable to counters.

  • Decrease cast time to 2 seconds, add a 6 second cooldown

  • Increase missile speed to 2-3 times faster then it currently is

  • Make Gpyro 20-25% of max health

Any one of these changes would be acceptable without removing or reworking the entire ability. Heck do all of these ideas even, Blizzard just needs to do something

Not talking about gpy, talking about shimmer.

Tbh i’d Like to see ring of frost replaced with something in the fire school, maybe a short ranged stun or something so that fire isn’t using three schools of magic (except nova). I’d also like to see a good choice for fire in the living bomb talent tier because it feels bad picking living bomb and then just not using it because everything breaks CC. What a dumb talent tier.

Idk if you wanted to mess with gpyro I suppose nerfing it to 30% and/or putting a 6 second cd on it might be fine but people need to realize that outside of combustion burst (FB FB pyro FB pyro) and gpyro spam (which in most cases is containable with los and interrupts) fire isn’t a huge threat. So what you’re mad about is the play style where it feels like mage is coming out of nowhere to one shot but the flames of alacrity fireball build just isn’t very good right now. So you would need to buff that build or do something to compensate. Even then though, you’re creating a more dampener style build built around consistent pressure and longer games. Is that what people want in a world where people are constantly complaining about game pacing?

What people fail to realize when they say people fail to realize is that EVERY OTHER SPEC doesnt do damage outside of their CD’s, which is in part why we have this dampener meta so there is no reason to trade out in between CDs and healing etc. The damage needs to be buffed accross the board to most specs for the baseline abilities that each spec has. 100-0 in 3 seconds shouldnt be in game. Thats not engaging gameplay.

Do people fail to realize to fail to realize?

They can also just make it break poly as soon as the cast is finished but still keep the travel time. The travel time is cool and unique. However, I think we can all agree shimmer (and especially shimmer poly) make any mage spec feel god awful to play against.

put deep/db on same tier as shimmer, problem fixed

Yes if more people would cry for this we would be headed in the right direction
