ok I can see someone saying that - just didn’t have the imagination to figure out how the conversation would go.
I would have laughed though…

Were you around on the old forums when Blizzard announced they were planning on making people post with their Real ID instead of our characters? What a sh*tshow that was…
In the future, if you NEED to know a report action is seen, do not use the right-click-on-a-name-in-chat feature. Open a Customer Support ticket instead.
Include all relevant information: Realm, zone, channel of communication, name of the character making the threats. They have full chat logs, at least for recent occurrences.
Manually place the offender on your /ignore list, and let the GMs know you have done so, and are leaving the matter to them.
They do investigate, and do take action. Sometimes less aggressively than one would like, and also they’ll never tell you when they discipline someone else.
If the problem persists, make a new CS ticket. Simply say “I have had this problem before. The player is on my /ignore list, but is pursuing this on alts I have to ignore as well.”
Harassment is reportable, and actionable. But use CS tickets - that puts it in front of a live human, rather than ticking an algorithm that only flags a player after a certain threshold of reports are logged.
Thing is when i was younger i thought the whole XBOX live call of duty your mom this and that stuff was your typical coming of age as a gamer moment. But things in the last 10 years have gotten really intense and really violent. Guy shot up a gaming event odd years ago after having lost during it.
No probs wasn’t posting back then but omg who’s idea was that. Terrible lol
People can find your IP address online. Many use discord and twitch and all that other stuff while they play. Even a basic Google search of your character name may turn you up, if you ever use that name for other forums, many do.
And can you say for 100% certain that Blizzard has never been, and never will be, hacked? Your personal information could be sitting on wikileaks right now.
Real life threats are just that, they are real life threats. Police should be involved.
Noooooo my search history :o
This is horrible advice
The line “Burden of proof” exists for a reason. Punishments should never be based on one person’s word alone, which is why blizzard relies on logs.
Simply rolling with what someone said is, truly, a slippery slope.
This leads me to believe this is all nonsense.
That one last line did raise a few red flags, yes.
Unless you’re Alliance and then it doesn’t matter, because Blizzard simply doesn’t care.
And, for the nuclear take of the century…
I’ve had the same kind of threats before, but most of it is just talk and not them actually doing anything, it really depends on the situation.
Wait, I’m confused… why don’t we believe the op? You all play the same game I do, right? Death, rape and other threats are not unheard of. People say things like that right in trade chat.
Right and in this case unlike the real world any proof was forwarded to Blizzard so thankfully we don’t have to rely on their word alone.
I’ve had these kinds of threats too, but most of it is just talk and no actual doing, it really depends on the situation. What exactly happened?
This tells me you are trolling. Reported as such
Which also mean, as the Op posted in the public forums, people might question some things, and that doesn’t make it “victim blaming”, specially with the red flags going on.
